Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 25th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
BB, we should have married there, but the weren't open on Saturdays at the time, we've had no frost here this week so far, I hope you aren't scraping ice off your car too often.
Hugs to all those who are suffering at the moment, there seems to be a lot of bad news & sadness around at the moment, we have 2 people at work who are having a terrible time also.
No packup for me today, I'm taking leftovers, chicken & chips for tea tonight for hubby, chicken & bread & butter for me.
It's time I made a cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

I have not been on here for ages. Why am I posting at 5.23, I should be in bed! :D

  • Thanks for the new thread, Hester.

Not been posting here for a wee while - my Bipolar is kicking off at the moment and I'm feeling very lousy. Really want to start feeling better now, please!

OS for today is making some chilli for tea (in the slow cooker) and walking to an appointment with my CPN and a pet sitting job. Am seriously considering getting rid of my car (currently off the road) - I can't really afford it although my parents help with the cost of it and I know I don't need it. Now is not the time to be making decisions though.

    Onwards and upwards!

Hope everyone else is feeling good :)

Just catching up on yesterdays post... hugs to Tappers on mums friend.

Had a terrible day here yesterday... DD2 produced a letter from her school bag which she had forgotten to give me night before... basically saying that there was a 'situation' going on in her class which she wasnt involved in but that the safety of all the children was being maintained... So I went into school and got no answers whatsoever... child confidentiality...

So basically I have been having a few concerns about the school recently... we've had 5 heads in 2 years... no chef... discipline is non existent in my opinion ... So I spent the day visiting schools for DD2 which is no small task in itself as you know she is under a court protection order from her father so taking her on is a big responsibility for a school.....

Anyway I found one and I hand delivered the transfer form to the education authority and just happened to drive past TKMax and called in for some retail therapy lol... and bought DD2 a coat, a dress and a cardigan, still retail therapy I guess even if it wasnt for me lol

My clothing online delivery is coming today... was supposed to be delivered wednesday but it went on the van late so my next day delivery charge has been refunded :D.... on the downside my online grocery shopping got lost coming to us... Ive told them not to send anyone in the dark who hasnt been before  eventually turned up an hour late and the driver was just about to give up

Plus side OH took DD2 and I out for dinner so we could talk about new school and she seems very excited and DD2 and I are going to visit new school today....

Think I may have written a book now....

OS - tea is going to be corned beef hash... just fancied it.

DD2 is at a party after school.

WM on, DW on, Log Burner lit..

hugs to those who need it..

Oh and the Pup has a new sheepskin coat that fits so over the weekend she will be outside during the day with the spaniel :T

    Morning!

Yesterday started well, then I forgot to eat mid-morning (because Roo is so big and pushing my tummy, so i don't get hungry!) but that made me go down-hill energy-wise and I got poorly. DH called at lunchtime and realised I wasn't well and made me have an early lunch... an hour later I was so full of energy i burned it all making the bed, folding washing and tidying the house... which burned me out and I ended up incoherant and shattered and fell asleep about 7pm! But I woke up feeling better after a good sleep :)

Having trouble eating more then half a slice of bread now... my tummy is so squashed! I'm not sure how I am going to get my calories in if I can't eat!

So today I have the morning school run. Ds has a class assembly and I am gutted I can't go (I can't when I am this poorly, it's means missing a meal and sitting in the wrong position which will make the Low BP get bad which means i'll be sick) DS is okay about it, as long as I go to the next one which is a big play in March! That's not a problem, Roo will be here :)

This afternoon I have Parental Education Classes (This is DH first baby, so I get to do the classes all over again!)

Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent (I get to light my first candle) and that means tomorrow DH/DS are going to go cut our christmas tree and we are going to spend the day decorating the house and making mince pies!! After that we have to go to the church and remove all the flowers before Advent.

Lou I tried to comment again... but no luck... I will keep reading though x

Monnogran Yes you are right, he is such a treasure... that's why I married him before he could get away... and I treasure him dearly so he'll always stay. I am very lucky to have him, i'm not sure how I would cope without him x

Notjustlaura we are about to sell my car... it's really scary... like taking away a safety blanket... what if...

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend x

  • Morning.

Tappers, I am so sorry to hear your news, hugs for you and your wee mum.

Another restless night here chez moi, I am up and at 'em now though. Off work today, so the plan is to get the house ship shape. I want to visit my sister this morning, but I will need to wait and see if she wants company. Her OH should be getting home today if the change in his meds has worked out OK. He seems to have slept the day away yesterday, hopefully that means he is a lot more comfortable.

DH is home tonight, so it will be a full weekend, I have lots of jobs for him to do, the mist important of which is getting the tree out of the loft :) the boys and I will get it up next week.

Hugs to you all, hugs and spoons all round, wish I had a magic wand.

  • Morning All,

Just want to send some more hugs to all those who need them and are going through a rough time at the moment.

I have had a decent day at work today and its almost time for me to go home for the weekend.

I am off out for dinner tonight, its a friends farewell, but before I head out, I have to rush home, get changed and ready and make it to the meeting spot by 7pm. There is actually no chance I will make it, it takes over an hour to get there, and I only arrive home at about 5.30pm. At least I already have an idea of what im wearing... Haha lets hope all my snacking hasnt been too detrimental and that I can still fit into the dress:rotfl::rotfl:

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all,

N9eav :T nice to see you posting, pop back more often x

Dazi, hope all goes well with your dad today xx

Hugs to Jackie G and Tappers xx

Cold here, but no frost :T, off to work today, so will swish :p the kitchen before I go, dd and I are off out for the night, so OH will have to cope on his own, which I suspect will involve curry :D

Will have a quick tidy round after work, then a quick shower change, and off out.

I have been doing a small wash each night and spacing it out on the airer, which seems to be mostly dry by morning, hope its nice over the weekend, to get some towels etc dry.

Ok better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

I am so tired at the moment, I am sure it is to do with the fact that it is so dark, little things that don't normally bother me are really getting me down.

Have decided that I will be on strike next wednesday, I actually voted not to strike as I don't believe that striking has any effect but I was brought up to do what my union asks me to do, I could really do without losing a days pay though, especially at this time of year.

DS is going away for the weekend with his friends youth group so he should have a good time and tomorrow is DD2's birthday and party so I have a lot of organising to do. I am also going to watch DD1 and DD2 dance in their last ballet lesson before their exams and I have been invited to a party in the evening. Busy day!!

Hugs to all that need them.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Morning all

Quite mild here this morning, not managed to keep up with the thread seems to be a lot of hard times everywhere at the mo.

Have got my neighbour coming round to sand down my hallway, so at least it will be deorated for Christmas, seem to be fighting a loosing battle against housework at the mo and everything else! Off to do Mum's cleaning today and take her to the farm shop. Then I'm going to the hairdressers after. Also have my works Christmas do tonight. Really need to get my act together and think about Christmas presents, never been so disorganised. At least I don't have to think about dinner.

Must crack on, have a good day all and big hugs to all who need one.
