I looked for Ultimate as I may just buy a desktop replacement, because Ultimate looks amazing with the moving image desktop etc. :D

Dell don't seem to offer it though - all they give on the laptops and desktops is Home Basic which lets face it is not really worth having, imo.
    That, is an excellent question...
  • i got new laptop so i got free upgrade of vista premium so i have orded it but not to sure if i will upload it as it does look amazing but some people said it not worth it so really in 2 minds

If you mean the Aero interface that is in all versions except Home Basic. So you don't need ultimate, just Home Premium.

I'll be getting it in a few weeks when I get a new PC (still waiting to see what bonus we get this year!:D )

I'd like Ultimate but it is very pricey so I'll probably go for Home Premium.

Just reading a few articles on the BBC web site, looks like we are paying through the nose again, Americans can get the same software for half the price, nothing unusual in that then. Some reports suggest up to 100 million users in 12 months, not bad considering some on the forum are saying its C**P and full of spyware

cheers for that Archy, although I did see your post earlier, I was the one who read it. Yes its no different to previous microsoft platforms, we lived through them and it looks like we will live through this as well.Maybe this time Miccrosoft will get it better, sooner rather than later. Mind you withall the hackers at work nothing much is safe anyway

Considering it's a technical forum, you don't actually give any technical facts. More heresay.

And DRM in relation to High Definition isn't a direct result of Microsoft. You'll find that monitors, graphics cards are all becoming HDCP compliant too. It's a new standard being pushed by the industry. Microsoft is merely including HD support, otherwise you wouldn't be able to play HD content on your new Vista pc's. And you can bet Apple will do exactly the same.
