Anyone getting VISTA

I've got xp running without a hitch and, more importantly, the missus can use it without swearing. I think I'll let the more adventurous out there 'beta' test it for a while (because you know it will be as buggy as a buggy thing). It'll be interesting to see what security issues rear their heads, perhaps we'll be pleasantly surprised? Ha!

I thought I was pretty cutting edge when I bought XP with service pack 1 back in the day. There's no rush with these things, let them have their settling time first."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Quite. I fell for ME; once bitten, twice shy.

Ordered my free upgrade to ultimate. Not sure if I will install it yet I will wait to see the reviews and if there are any bugs or problems first.0

I'm getting a "free" upgrade from PC World, but it's going to cost £16.10. Does that sound right? Seems a bit steep to me.0

The cost is for shipping and handling.0

I have been reading some of the techie write ups and to get the absolute most from it you need a hard drive that is not available yet and a monitor that has not been invented so far!!
Personally at the mo - especially after Win 3.11, 95 and 98 traumas XP does it all for me with pretty rock solid reliability - I think it will be a while before I chose to make a perfectly good hardware set up redundant just to line bill's pockets and have the latest go faster stripes.Signature No Longer acceptable -

Not at all. You're referring to HDCP compliant hardware. Vista supports HDCP, but you don't need HDCP compliant components to run Vista. By not having such hardware you just miss out on High Definition. You can still of course use Vista, and upgrade your hardware as and when.
It relates to Graphics Cards, and Monitors."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
I beta tested vista prem and it was great, can still put it back on if I want as its valid until 01/06/07 but would rather up-grade my pc bit by bit for a couple of years then buy vista prem as all the bugs will be goneish, or not. and had alot of problems getting it to work with my other programs such as nero.

although its alot cheaper than xp when that first came out. I paid £100 3 years ago for xp with sp1a and £60 2 years ago with sp2 so the price might make more people bite, and if its cheaper in the states why not but from the states isnt it about $2 to the £1 at the mo and whats up with OEM have I missed something.
