Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, a new OS is coming out in the next 18months anyway.

??????? A replacement for Vista??? If that's what you mean I don't believe it. It took MS six years to bring out a replacement to XP.

Lol. Very random comment I have to agree. And no reasons given why they'd avoid it. Usually just because they've heard they should, or they're joining the anti MS bandwagon. Oh, and this is usually all concluded without having even tried Vista!

  • I have read this thread and I personally will be waiting a while before using Vista.

For those of you that want to use it now (or later), pleas note the two following items.

    1. Do NOT purchase a FULL version of Vista, buy an UPGRADE. Do not perform an Upgrade but instead do a clean install. See this article for instructions. I would advise a full backup of you XP/2000 disk so that you can go back to your previous OS if you decide that Vista is no good(yet!). Also, I have always believed that a clean install is better than an upgrade.

    2. Do NOT activate you Vista straight away. Read this article which explains how to get yourself 120 days grace before activation.

The methods used above, are not illegal hacks, they are built in to Vista by Microsoft.

Hope this is useful for you.

Do they invalidate the EULA though? I seem to remember reading the first one does.

    Either way though, good advise.
Given the choice I'd probably go for the Home Premium, or Ultimate. There are OEM version around for about £85 and just over £100 respectively.
