:jHi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 24th Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all - what are we doing up so early? DS2 joined me at half four after having had a wet bed, and my Mum is coming up today to help me sort things out.
Will finish coffee and then get moving. Have caught up with the washing (it was the size of Everest!) and when have done bed will go and get more plastic boxes to put things in the loft - the way its going we might have to reinforce the loft!!!! Quick hug with the dogs and I'm off for the day.

Hugs to those in need. xx

Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Bramble, hubby & I got married in the local registry office, we had the quickest ceremony possible & then had our own ceremony in our back garden, surrounded by family & friends, hubby's family didn't approve, but it was our day, not theirs & they were told from the very beginning that they could come along & shut up or stay away, thier choice. We spent £400 on the wedding, SIL spent more than that on the trousers she wore.
Kettles on, I'm going to make hubby's packup.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone,

Hugs to all that need them especially Lou, JackieG and Islandmaid.

Try and have another quiet day Beth.

Bramble, we got married in church and I can't remember the ceremony itself costing too much (it was 1995 so my memory may be a little hazy!)
It is not the ceremony that makes it expensive it is everything else that you add to the day.
However, the only thing that matters is that you both are happy with how things are done.

I have book group tonight, we meet in a local bar so it is usually a bit of a rowdy affair.

Tea tonight is the remains of yesterdays pasta bake.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)
  • Good Morning all blooming chilly one this morning .I have a little ironing to do after the school run then, I must crack on with some more knitting .My needles were flying yesterday, and I have about nine and a half more squares to do.
DD and her OH and in-laws enjoyed Tarbuck and said it was an excellent show to see.I have so dig out my card list as well. Its sad, because often I have to reduce it a little from the year before, but at my age its normal I suppose.I certanly go to more funerals than weddings unfortunately.
I sorted all my finances out for December and all is well and bills are all done and dusted.Just awaiting my Gas and Electric to arrive next week but I have more than enough in the account to cover them.I always over pay a little in the summer on my direct debit so I don't have to worry too much about heating bills .With the mildness of the weather recently its been good that the heating has barely been on (oh dear I hope I haven't put the mockers on the weather now)
Well time to get the kettle on and some hot porridge inside of me.The freezer is going down nicely now as I have been 'shopping' from it for the past three weeks and want to ge it defrosted before Christmas
Have a smashing day everyone whatever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xx

  • Morning all, Thanks Em for starting the thread.

OH went to work this morning at 3-45am  so I have been up since then pottering... about ready to drop now lol

Ordered DD2 a dress and some boots from a supermarket online shopping thing.. paid for next day delivery and they didnt turn up yesterday  so thats my first thing Im going to sort after 9am!

OH needs a shirt for Sunday (Motorclub christmas dinner) so I might have to pop out and get him one from somewhere.... a run down the town it is....

WM nearly finished... DW emptied... Log burner lit....

Shopping coming between 8pm and 10pm.. wish I had known about the early start when I booked that lol... never know from one day to the next, supermarkets plan the night before

I made the game pies yesterday... two dissapeared, one to one of the farm managers (who swapped it for a brace of pheasants) and one to one of the other tractor drivers (who swapped it for 2 red cabbages) lol.....

  • I am feeling good today :)

I took it easy yesterday, and can feel the benefit now :)

Sky over billed me for the THIRD month running, spoke to a lovely getleman there (who's 1 year old is sick) and he finally seems to have found the issue and refunded me the overbill... plus £16!! I am so pleased I was in a good mood yesterday :D

DS chesty cough has broken and he's feeling much better today (he's sulking that I won't let him to running club today at school... so he must be feeling better!) which is a relief... I have coughed a little... and am crossing fingers I didn't catch it from him!

Today I only have the afternoon school run. Dinner is leftovers. And DH is taking DS to cubs tonight!

DH has been a saint recently, he has learned how to use the BM and has been making bread when I was poorly last week, and slices it in the morning as I forget in the evenings (which is when i am worse)... and now he has made a food menu for the next 4 weeks (so I can food budget) of things he can make which are simple (ie. SC stews and curries) just for him and DS to eat. So far he has stuck to this weeks flimsy plan, making sure everything is defrosted and then making sure it gets cooked. This is great as I can't eat what they eat anyway :D

Anyway, I am off to post DH menu plan for the week ahead :D

Hope you all have a great day x

    Morning all,

brrr cold here this morning, I put the huge throw on the bed last night, and took a hot water bottle up with me, was warm and cosy all night, slept like a baby.

Work today, then home, more washing to do, and then fish fingers chips and peas for dinner.

Sainsbugs are delivering tonight, and I need to swish the bathroom over.

JackieO, I always love reading your stories, you have such a way with words xx

Jackie G what a hard time you are going through, hugs to you and yours xx

    Have good days all xx
