There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

mortar - you were nearly there :)

Why can't you use it - is it not robust/substantial enough?

I got rid of my juicer on ebay and made a nice sum of money out of it.
But.....the buyer was a real witch who moaned that there were no instructions with it (not true) and then said it was broken! (also not true)

I wouldn't mind but all she had to do was take it out of the box and plug it it, only a halfwit would need instructions. I offered her a refund, which she didn't accept, she just left bad feedback instead.

I loved my old electric knife and when it finally conked out, I went straight down to Argos and bought a new one. Which I broke the first time I used it, trying to cut up a huge joint of frozen beef. :(

My husband has a coffee maker that he hasnt used for years but still wants to keep. I despair with that man.

So which are you saying is useless and unnecessary - the coffee maker or the husband:D

I have an ice cream maker that I have never used because all the recipies start: "a pint of cream..." which I never have, and even if I had I would not use it to make ice cream since there are better uses and a litre of ice cream is 72p (less than the cream) in ASDA, making it cheaper, easier and ready to eat in 15 minutes (return trip to buy it) if I decide we want ice cream.

I'm not sure why I bought the icecream maker, I think I thought you made it with milk.

That sounds like my Robert Carrier's cookbook. All his recipes are "Take a pint of cream, 12 eggs, 1lb of butter...........). They didn't seem to count calories in his day.

I have had my electric carving knife for over 30 years now! It was a wedding present and has been used for every joint of meat I've cooked since. I did think that I would get a new one a few years ago, and as barbie says, it was far less robust than my original - easy to see that on the first cut. So I returned it, and am still using the old one!
