  • Sunset Reef from Sainsburys is a good malibu substitution. It is the best imitation one around (much better than Iceland's) and about £5 or £6 a bottle which is half of a bottle of Malibu.

I'm a student and me and all my friends drink it!!

Also if you watch out for the Sainsburys 3 for £12 wine offer you can get some gorgeous wines that are normally about £9 a bottle. The Mondelli ones are really nice!

Aldi's amaretto is very nice but it's half the abv of Disaronno (and half the price, too :)). It's sweeter to make up for it. It's lovely for baking, hot drinks and milkshakes for this reason, but I don't like it neat.

I'm keeping an eye out for their cherry brandy! Not seen any yet.
  • I like LIDL's bourbon that they do for just over £10. Very drinkable.

I'll second that! It sits taste wise in-between Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.

I have 9 bourbons in my collection atm (inc a 20 yr old Pappy Van Winkle Special family Reserve - which I'll be opening Christmas).

Works well in Mint Julips or if you can get it Rochester Ginger http://www.original-drinks.com/ (it's £4 but it's used more like a syrup than a pop drink and packs a truly amazing 10 minute mouth tingling kick) with 1/2 a fresh lime squeezed in.

Lidls Rose Californian Zinfindal not bad.

Also I've got a fair few of their Liqueurs from when they do their Food of the World specials.

I use to drink their £2 cider but I've discovered it contains artificial sweeteners so I'll not touch that now.

This was out of stock for ages in our Aldi but I finally managed to get hold of some the other day. It's lovely, I made some truffles with it (white chocolate truffles with apricot and amaretto) and had a few capfuls myself, just to make sure it was ok :D

Also bought some calvados from Aldi and it's not bad.

I had a bottle of premade Eggnog last year that was really yummy and I cannot for the life of me remember where I got it from.

I think it was called Holiday Nog. Anyone seen it anywhere?
