you are so good!! I am going to be organised next year....Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Bramble Mr LW and I were married in a hotel - they'd just got their Civil License, so we were able to arrange it at fairly short notice as they didn't have lots of bookings yet; it was nicer we felt than the rather grim registry office in this area, and for obvious reasons we didn't want church. It was a lovely ceremony, we had our choice of music and reading (it just has to be non-religious, is the only rule) and we wouldn't have had it any other way. Hope you can persuade OH that it doesn't have to be Registry Office or Church and there's no other option.:o
How's pup now, after his run-in with the wasp, btw? No lasting effects, I hope.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Thank you - I think i am going to drag him round other venues and show him we have options!
Pup is okay it seems, he's a bit clingyer than he used to be, but he does get like that at times, he's a funny old thing! Just so glad he's okay.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Afternoon all! :grouphug: to those who want or need them xx
Bramble - we had a civil marriage in the place we were having the reception despite DH's family being stout catholics ( he goes to church for christenings, weddings and funerals only) I had both sets of parents (and a few friends) moaning about my choice of maid of honour/bridesmaid too. However, it's your day and you have to do what you want to do. Everyone enjoyed my wedding despite us not agreeing to their choices.
JulieG - you sound incredibly organised, nothing to be ashamed of there.
Lou - sounds like you had a lovely time yesterday, try to hold on to those memories when the dark memories come knocking.
Ok, I'm sorry, forgotten everyone else's stories, still trying to learn all your names. I feel a bit like the new girl on the outside of the circle at the moment.:o
Today, I've had no computer at work til about an hour ago so work has been incredibly dull, couldn't even surf the net to pass the time! Luckily I bought most of my xmas pressies online yesterday so today would be a NSD.
OS - HM toasted fruit bread for brekkie, HM leek n potato soup for lunch and HM beef casserole(I think) from my freezer stash for tea. No plans tonight, keep meaning to do some crafting but once my bum hits the sofa after tea, there's no getting off it til bedtime:rotfl:
Hope you enjoy the rest of the day xxx0 -
So much for the fitters coming today, gggrrrhhhh. I've been promised, yet again, that they will start at 8am tomorrow. I need to go to swimming class at 8.40 with DD2 as it's DGD2's lesson. I'll look after DGD3 4 wks old now. Then we're all coming back here as DNiece, her DH, their 2.6yr old and their baby 6mtns old are coming for the day. It's been planned for ages because it's the only day DN's hubby has a day off.
The carpets and floorboards are still up, thank goodness it's upstairs and not down as we might loose a couple of kiddies.
I've just made a cauli & broc cheesy bake and cooked sausages for everyones lunch tomorrow, I'll pop a couple of garlic sticks in the oven when lunch is nearly ready. Banana & custard for thier pud.
I wrapped theirs and other family pressies y/day so they can take them back. Do you think it a bit cheeky if I give them xmas cards to hand out to my other Nieces and Nephew ? they will be seeing them next week.
Hm burgers, jackets, toms & peas for dinner tonight.
Lots of (((((((((hugs))))))))))))) to all poorlies and sad peeps.
I WILL catch up, promise.0 -
I married in a registry office in Oxford with my brother and then SIL as witness's.We then went off for steak and chips for the four of us and the bill came to £9.00.My brother said he would borrow his pa-in-laws camera and two days later told me he had fogotten to put film in it .As there was around a foot of snow on the ground at the time(1963) it was a bit too chilly to have them done again. We were stoney broke when we got married and my wedding ring cost £4.00 I have never taken it off and wear to this day 48 years later. As we managed to get a few bob more over the years my OH said he would get me a new one but I always said no as it reminds me of those days. I did get a nice engagement ring for my 10th annivesary and an eternity ring for my 35th,sadly I lost my lovely chap in the year of our 40th so we never quite made our Ruby. But when I met him, we married 41 days later and it was the best deal I ever had in my life. Its what you feel inside that matters not all the trimmings, they are not important, if he makes you laugh rather than cry then he is the bloke to go for .I had almost 40 years of laughing and even with no money, flowers, photos and my outfit, the skirt was so short it barely covered my decency (it was the early 1960s)I had a fantastic life with him.0

Hi all,
All this talk of pressies bought is making me:eek:-I've got 2 so far.Must ring my brother tomorrow to see what is on DN list.
The people who came to view have made an offer but it is very low, then upped it a bit,but still too low for us.DH had a chat to the EA this morning so we'll see if anything higher comes in-DH built it himself at nights and weekends, and all while doing his building 'day job' so is loath to let it go cheap-when you've laid every joist, tile, etc you feel quite attached
I've been making apple jelly today, still dripping in the jelly bag,and more stewed apples.Chicken for tea
Beth ,glad youre taking it easier
Beemuzed-hope your DS is ok
Hugs to anyone else in need xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Flutterby - normally i leave it till the last minute, but last year i got flu 2 weeks before crimbo and no one got anything!!!
OH and I are having a wedding disagreement - he wants to get married in a church, i don't. He's not religious, neither am i, but he thinks it's 'tradition' what would you lot do?
I had a civil ceremony and I loved it. Very personal, about us as a couple rather than about God (apologies to those of you who are believers but that's how Church services are to me)
We got married here http://www.berrowcourt.co.uk/
Wasn't cheap mind you but we did have it exclusively so you get what you pay forI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hi all,
A bit more organised this morning and threw a stew in the SC this morning, so only need to add some dumplings and Ta-Daaaa...
I think i,m a tad mental at the moment - woke up last night in tears worried that because it was frosty, poor Bruno would be cold in his rsting place - is it normal to have this many tears over a pet? He,s the first we,ve lost.
Bramble - at the end of the day, even if you get married at the local tip, you will have a magical day, remind OH that its you and him that have to enjoy it not all the guests, even if they are family xx
NPM - your such a good mum, Noah will find his place, not only at school, but in life too xx
Lou - thinking of you Hun, baby steps xx
Sorry if i,ve missed anyone - i,m having a bit of a brain-fart:eek:
Have a fab evening all xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
