Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 23rd Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I seem to have caught up with my sleep a bit, I slept on the sofa from 8 til 10:30, then went to bed & slept til 5, lol.
Kettles on for a cuppa, then I'll make the packups, breakfast & drive hubby to the station.
I need to rummage in the freezer for tea.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Morning hester - hope you don't have any ice on the car!

Morning all - hope its not too cold where you are - its supposed to be chilly today!

Cleared DS1s room - thats finished, worked through the pile of washing and dried clothes, cleared my room and took cat to vets yesterday - vet is now doing blood tests for feline leukiemia and aids. Tonight I'll use up the remaining meatballs from yesterday - we'll have burgers if I get some rolls. Have to put up DS2s bed and finish my room and his today. Then I'll hit the hall. Estate agent comes on Monday to take pictures and measure up! Phew. Hugs to all xxxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Good Morning all, black as hades outside, but not that cold.Mid-week already, the weeks seem to be flying by and not a lot achieved at the moment I have I suppose about three quarters of my presents bought but have a few more birthday bits to gat as well.I am staying at DD on Saturday night as its her OHs birthday and they are going up to see a show in London and stay overnight in an hotel. They are seeing 'Phantom' again as they so enjoyed it the last time they went. The boys are chuffed as they get to have granny for the evening and we have a 'naughty night' with dvds and some goodies and they get to stay up a little later. We will probably have bangers and mash in the evening for dinner and ice cream to follow or what ever they fancy. They are good lads and I never have any trouble with them.It also gives DD and her OH a break from the rush and tear of a large family and a bit of time to themselves which is a rarity in its self as they almost never go anywhere without their children.I am still knitting furiously the blanket to try and get it done for DGS girlfriend Chloe for Christmas.only another 14 12 x 12 squares to go then the edging. It has 'Betty Boop' in the middle and I know she will be so pleased as she has lusted after her own 'blankey' for ages.
Hope everyone has a good and productive day
    Cheers chums

    morning!!!!!!!

i like your saying "black as hades", it sure is, by 4pm it will be the same here.

sworry i haven't cought up with the the epast few days, so today it will be happening. Spent all day trying to fix a website and failed.

But i did find a stray that i rescued, but thought had run away last week, under the bath  Think it might have gone under there three days ago when i was cleaning it out. :o

Its pure black and extremely cute and friendly. Shame lucy (scabby cat) hates it and fat knacker (tom) is unsure of it.

Sp plans for today buy some flea stuff, make bread (again), fix website (blurghhh) and hand out leaflets. OH has another day wi rk so yay :D:D

    have a good day peeps!

Good Morning All! Black here too - and the cold rushed in as I let the dogs out into the garden first thing!
JackieO - I love the sound of the blanket and have visions of you sitting there frantically clicking away with the knitting needles!
HH, glad you're catching up on your sleep. If I fall asleep inthe evening i can never settle to sleep at bedtime.
esmf73 - what a busy day you had. Hope your cats are OK.
DS left hospital yesterday - unclear whether this was really his own decision or not. Oh well...
Have to complete my report today - have been faffing around with it but need to bite the bullet now and just DO IT!! Have two meetings to attend this evening ( will do part of one and then fo on to the next and another late this afternoon. A busy day, with very little to show for it in the house I think.Food is sorted though and WM is on with a load of towels.
Think I'd better make myself a cuppa and get to work. I know once I really get into it it'll be fine - but I have such trouble motivating myself to get down to it. A lifetime of working up to deadlines jsut doesn't change - even though I know it'd be less stressful for me ( and poor DH who bears the brunt of it well!)
Hope you all have a good day. ((HUGS)) to all who need them just now.

  • Morning all :)

So yesterday was a nice slow day until the afternoon, when I decided to actually be useful and sort the house, collect the children from school and make dinner! Oh boy was that a mistake... there is a reason I am supposed to be taking it slow!

So today I have the school run this morning, and again this afternoon. In between I will be resting and relaxing! I think maybe a nice bath :)

Baby Roo had me awake at 3.30am, and has been dancing the 'disco' (as DS calls it) and i've been up since then pretty much! Roo has decided to go into my pelvis from time to time, especially at night... so the hip pain while sleeping has starting (lets hope it stays warm so my arthritus doesn't add to it)!

Ds has the most horrific cough... his poor chest has been pulled. I've dosed him up with Honey and Lemon Glycerine and given him paracetamol and hot drinks... and at least it's all coming off his chest...! Poor thing :(

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day x

    Jx

    Morning all,

Brrr its so cold here, I woke several times in the night feeling cold, think it might be time for the big throw on the bed.

Off to work today, sausages and mash for dinner, with cauli, carrots and leeks.
Will try and do some more washing, but its taking so long to dry, will have to check to see if the lot on the airer is dry first.

Brother is apparantly coming to mums today, he just cant bear it anymore, he is sleeping on a tiny sofa, no dinner etc, and her mum and sisters on at him the whole time, he will be better off out of there, but is so sad for the children.

Bargainbird, I think I would shove them in a casserole or something seeing as you are running round all day.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Patchy cloud but dry at the moment. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Work yesterday was really busy spells then nothing.

Dinner last night was sausage, bacon, mushrooms, eggs and beans, bread and butter/toast - not the sort of meal I really like giving everyone but had sausages and bacon that needed using up. Remembered to get pork chops out of the freezer so tonight we will be eating pork chops, mash, veg and gravy.

Not much else to report at the moment, just working until lunchtime then on days off, so all the normal chores to do. I'm thinking my friend may come over after school with her son for coffee - be nice to catch up as haven't seen her for 2 weeks. Managed to get a bit more of the xmas prezzies sorted yesterday - so a little less to worry about!

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

    Morning All,

Cold and frosty here, both DH and DS2 have had to scrape their cars this morning and have gone off wrapped up.
DS3 is just finishing his coco pops, warm ones I know yuk

Today need to pick my trousers up that have been shortened, I know not very OS but I would have spoilt them, definitely not a sewer. Will pop in the charity shops while I am there.
Tonight we are knocking the tiles off in the kitchen and then at wkend we will buy the worktops, money permitting.

Mum rang me last night to say she had seen a mouse in the kitchen and screamed like a banshee, dad jumped up from his chair, lost his balance and ended up falling over, luckily just a bit bruised as he fell in the doorway:eek: just made me think they are getting older,:( they managed to catch the little mouse and put him outside. She said they laughed about it afterwards, just glad the door was open.

Tea tonight is chicken curry with rice and naan breads, that should warm everyone up. Have a good Wednesday J x
