are you still plotting a second?
Hello LionHeartedGirl, thanks... looks like finger crossing worked!
Yes, am still plotting a second one... I have another week off in July so will try and time it then. Will be back at the shelter to see who might like to join us in another week or so
Current moggie had his flu shot today but was surprisingly quiet on the way home, despite having yowled loudly most of the way there... and seemed quite relieved to be back
I am still being surprised at how some people are with animals though, as well as some of the shelters. There was a lady there today who obviously loved her cats but had brought them in fabric carriers that were far too small for one of them to move in and where the floors buckled whenever the animal movedI think that's just scaring them unnecessarily. She liked the carrier I took though as I have one that opens at the top as well as the front... so you can drop in moggy and shut lid instead of doing the cat-spreadeagled-across-tunnel game :rotfl:
I may have to start a campaign for everybody to read Temple Grandin
Is it greyhounds you have LionHeartedGirl? I want a dog eventually, if I can get a bigger flat and another day working from home...

Hmm, the current account is not looking quite so healthy as I thought. This is probably to do with both cat expenses and also some kitchen stuff from TKMx. Also realised I still have a £40 invoice to pay as well as £50 pole subs (haven't been for a fortnight as was first busy, then ill.)
Less than a week til payday now though, and as mum funded a lot of the family weekend I did replace my holiday fund in it's pot instead of using it, so that is still there for guilt-free fun stuff. Keep forgetting that I have also paid off the other overdraft so quite a lot has actually been got rid of this month!
Also paid for the cat's insurance up front to avoid having a credit agreement on my record, so that's come out of the account. So has the first instalment  as I originally said I'd pay monthly thinking it would just be a direct debit. So must ring up and chase that.
Balance transfer has gone through :j pleased about that, somehow making the most expensive CC also the smallest makes it all seem much more doable!
Next month will be more cat stuff and am thinking of finally paying for a dating site membership. Reckon that could justifiably come out of the unexpectedly retained holiday fund if necessary.

Well having come home late and in a rather grumpy mood, have attempted to channel it... the dead CC turns out to have been closed after all, despite the threat of a lecture from Retentions, so didn't get to snap at them :rotfl: Did finally hoover the car though so it is clean for the first time since, er, I moved. Even checked the tyres etc so am feeling rather virtuous. Did a couple of bits tidying the garden as well.
Have nothing on this weekend which was deliberate as for one thing I ought to study, and for another next week will be mad at work and rather exhausting. Have managed to get out of third day at conference by blaming other project and refuse to feel guilty about it - I've done the bluddy thing for the last four years, I hate effectively working 15 hour days for 4 days in a row, and I really do need time to sort out the other mess.
So will be attempting to have a quiet and cheap weekend - do need to pop into town and also to pet store but otherwise studying. Garden can wait and allotment is long since deprioritised.
Bit peeved at lack of social life though which is probably a good sign - means will soon do something about it

Hope you managed to have a nice quiet weekend studying Rosa. Good Luck with sorting out the social lifeIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Well after all savings pots transfers and payments my spreadsheet says a healthily below £10K balance of £9,788 total debts and a net status of SUB £9K :j (just
) (this is mainly due to the money in the car fund which will get wiped out for insurance in August, but all the same).
My balance transfer has gone through so the interest bill should drop next month. Have already increased the proportion of money going to debt rather than interest though, and closed three accounts including one credit card, plus cleared the smaller overdraft. I finally got a response from N00dle saying they will amend my credit report to show that I am on the electoral roll, so let's see if it looks any better next month.
I've also been hanging up on Yodaphone three times a day ever since I cancelled my contract (which will be another one off my credit report). Since they don't appear capable of understanding 'don't call me in office hours' I'm not convinced I ought to cancel my plans of trying out G1ffG4ff (quite apart from their PAYG offers being carp by comparison).
Next target is my main current account overdraft, which was at -£875 before my pay came in. I want to take £200 off this month, so am making minimum payments to the credit cards until this one is clear. It's the smallest, though not quite the highest rate - I just really want to have my current accounts in the black so that, er, I can experience the feeling!:rotfl:
Two trips coming up this month, one including gifts, but both covered by savings pots. :T
Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. Though am concerned I may have a speed camera fine on its way- still, at least now that's an irritation and a minor detour in the plan, rather than a cause for real concern. So progress all the same

Hi Rosa, yes I have 2 greyhounds. Had them about 6 months nowI work 2 days from home and have a dog walker the other 3 days but I have an hour's commute each way so it would be too long for them to hold on otherwise. They sleep the rest of the day, they really are incredibly lazy! They do like a mad dash round the garden but it lasts about 2 minutes and then that's it for the rest of the day.
bum to the speed camerafingers crossed though!

ooh did I miss anything interesting with the :spam:?
I am thinking if I could get another day at home then something like a whippet/ lurcher/ greyhound might be a good planSince I am unlikely to ever afford the space or car for a Newfie, or have the time to keep a collie properly occupied, and kinda consider anything below knee height not really a proper dog :rotfl:
Am just back from shelter, been looking for moggie 2. I think I've got a pretty good idea which one I like and would get along with moggie 1, but will go back again and see.

All looking really good Rosa - it's a lovely feeling when you suddenly start feeling back in control of the financesIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Weeell I may have spoken a leeetle too soon - been really stressed for the last week with work and have had a bit of a spendy phase. Went out for dinner last night since had no food in the house and really needed the distraction. Then once I finally managed to escape today - two hours early instead of the supposed four - I went into town and stocked up on Lu5h stuff for about the next month, and made a start on a pressie needed for mid July. That will hopefully save me having to go into town on a weekend for a while, but was a bit of an upfront dent. Will see how this works out as of course it also prevents temptation :rotfl: Plus ventured into Primuck for a couple of soft throws aka cat blankets - funnily enough just as nice, bigger and nearly half the price of Pets@.
Now have another free weekend and planning to study. Am so cross with work really want this done now so I can a) get out of there and b) at least have free time outside of stupid work.
Did get to cat shelter yesterday, even if it meant I spent the evening working instead. Think I may have found moggie 2
I think this evening is likely to involve a lot of Lu5h goodies and risotto making
