2 mins at lunchtime provided 10m of washing line for a whole 74p and S-hooks to put it up with. Turns out the hooks aren't needed as I suddenly realised I can loop the line over the fence posts instead.
So for 74p and less than 5 mins work, I now have two washing lines across the garden and can dry my sheets in the fresh air and sun :j :j
(This was another reason for the Death of Leylandii, now they are out of the way washing can dry without getting bits all over it.)
Of such small things is happiness made(mine anyway)

Went to the local Pets At superstore this evening and was gobsmacked at the amount of carp people will buy for animals who can't appreciate it. Particularly the entire range of cat toys and stuff marketed as Baby X and all cream and pink - is it just me, or is that creepy??! And interestingly, a lot of the same stuff is rather cheaper in Wilkos

We'd like a dog too but it's just not feasable atm with us both at work during the day.
I know what you mean about the carp people buy - our pub has her bowls, a blanket that she uses on and off, 4 balls that she plays with and a bouncy mouse thing on a string - and that's pretty much her lot. She loves chasing old receipts and the lazer light from my shopandscan reader.
What you say about diff cat charities was true for us with her, when I rang them to find out what to do with her as a stray they asked immediatly if we'd keep her (i said we already had another so I guess they assumed we knew what we were doing with felines) They paid for her vaccinations, blood tests and to have her 'done' and never even saw her or did a house check. I guess they were glad not to have another resident waiting for a home, and I have emailled them a few times over the years with her progress.
Sorry...I'm waffling now:o:o

And I'm suitably impressed with your 74p - line-dry sheets etc. are almost worth it at any price, but that just makes them extra, extra snuggly!0 -
I have also discovered that my local M&S on the retail park near work put their yellow stickers on about 7pm :j dunno how this revelation took me so long but it may be rather useful. I won't be hanging around work late when I have moggies to let out
but could always walk down to the local branch later. Could even turn up to local friend's house for coffee in the process
.
Have also received 'annual statements' for two of my accounts, which as far as I can tell achieve naff all. One reminds me that I had an overdraft charge almost a year ago, the other tells me that I made a balance transfer and how much interest I have paid... but fails to mention the balance present before the transfer, so it looks like I've paid about 50% interest. Idiots.
Still ridiculously pleased about washing lines:rotfl:

Dunno what happened to the first paragraph of that post, not that it said anything exciting - only that have phoned shelter, they sensibly agreed to get to know moggies better idea than rushing decision, am going out there tomorrow.
And have decided will ask to work from home for at least a half day a week from July. It's well accepted at our place and should be fine with both my managers since they do the same. Would also mean established before job transfers

Yay, sharing the joy
I also figured out how to open the skylight, so now just need to track down some form of hook-on-stick (since weirdly, none of the homewares stores seem to have them, and garden implements are not an elegant long-term option). Am ridiculously pleased that opening the skylight meant I could knock off the lumps of moss that were spoiling the view and casting ugly shadows :j
I don't understand why anybody wants to move into a 'managed' place where all this fun is given to somebody else :rotfl:

Have cat :j also have long saga about cat that didn't get flu shot
before leaving animal sanctuary  but should all get sorted soon and he's certainly not going back now. It's fab to not have an empty house any more :T and a purring cat does wonders for stress levels. Plus he has different ideas about when is bedtime - and breakfast time - so my random sleep pattern may finally be fixed by a totally unexpected means :rotfl: Will probably go back and find him some company soon but will make it next month so I can have a couple of days leave when new cat arrives.
In moneysaving news, the inheritance from my gran arrived today so I have just cleared the next smallest debt - the smaller overdraft which was standing at £350. The rest of the money is going to fund 'start-up' cat expenses - because Gran would approve and because it's something I would have worried about funding otherwise - which should leave about £400 to come off the other overdraft. My monthly budget will need to be adjusted for cat costs, but my account is all over the place at the moment with funds coming through for weekend away with relatives, so will sort it all out and look at totals on payday.
Oh and have provisional agreement to work from home one day a week from next month :j

Hi, Rosa. Great news about the cat! Brilliant company. If I'd known you were looking you could have had one of mine - actually, both of them. One scratched me down my nose last night as we had a difference of opinion as to whether he should be inside or out, and the other did a Mach 3 circuit of the kitchen when the smoke alarm went off when I was in the shower (I think it was the noise that set him off, but it could have been the sight of me emerging naked from the bathroom) and broke my favourite mug. (Is it OK to have a favourite mug when you are a grown up?)"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0
