Am verrrry sleepy - dunno why as had plenty of time to sleep in on the weekend, then again my eczema has been misbehaving so might not have slept as well as I thought. So just to record that shed is now sorted and am really pleased, the living room now looks decent and I finally feel like the rest is under control. Still a few things to sort through but won't take long and can be done as and when.

Also decided that two of the three dresses are not quite fabulous enough and they will be going back later this week. Had already decided the navy one had to go, was going to wear the red today but when I tried it again it would need camisole underneath and a stitch in the front and it just wasn't quite fab enough to be worth the price... so I put on my old fab red dress instead and wore that :). It will do for this summer even if it doesn't survive any longer, so the new one can go back. The dress that is staying is just fab - I subjected them all to the Viewing Test which basically means I hang them in my room for a week and if something makes me happy every time I look at it, it stays, if not it goes back. The print dress has made me smile every time I see it and it's a one-stop fab outfit as it's a fantastically flattering shape but modest enough to wear for work if I like... I can't wait for the weather to be warm enough to wear it, so I expect to get more than my money's worth of happiness from that one. So that's £160 coming back off the credit card soon :)

Today wasn't technically an NSD as had to pay out for work stuff, but will get it all back on expenses. Didn't get to supermarket as have been doing on a Monday, but have been good and cooked including lunch for tomorrow so shouldn't need to buy food then either.

Today I have been a good DFW :)

All three fab dresses plus the fab skirt now packed up for sending back to fab dress co. The skirt and one dress are for exchange as they are gorgeous but I have now had an interesting experience and found out that a) I hadn't checked my actual measurements in a very long time and b) fifties dress companies mean what they say in the sizing guide. On the high street I usually pick up an 8 and 10 to try - I'm exchanging these 10s for 12s as the skirt zip didn't meet by quite a way and the dress was tight on the bust (not necessarily a terrible thing, but I mean tight to the extent of requiring rearrangement to get into it). Had a bit of a wobble about the whole thing as didn't think I'd really changed shape recently - in fact I'm still in my smaller jeans after the whole house-move trauma caused the usual distraction from actually eating and I lost quite a bit of weight. As I tend towards an apple shape I also worry about the waist-hip ratio as that's what indicates heart disease risk more than weight. But after a more honest overall conversation with the tape measure it turns out my hips are no longer the size they were 10 years ago either :rotfl: so it appears my waist-hip ratio is safe but I need a 12 not a 10 when things are actually cut to standard.

Anyway I've sent the lovely floral dress back as an exchange, so if the 12 doesn't work I'll have to reorder the 10... but note, this means I did not take the opportunity to order the 12 and 'may as well' add a couple of other lovely things from their website at the same time.

Am clearly not used to being home by half six as was wondering what to do with myself. Ironing sorted, a couple of boxes disappeared... the house is now nearly under control, I just need to sort through a few more things over the next couple of weekends, and persuade the landlord to let me kill the horrible leylandii which are plonked in the garden and take up far too much space. I doubt he'll mind but ought to ask.

Less than a week to payday now... the budget is completely shot due to hoover, shed etc but as it's all done now I should be able to get going properly from here. Am out tomorrow night and have a day off on Friday - a proper day off as no house stuff to do :j - so think I will take myself into town for a museum or gallery or something. Have just realised I have no plans at all for the weekend but must get going again on masters project, and also need to start switching summer stuff into wardrobe... so not a problem if it ends up being a quiet weekend, but I really need to get back in the habit of making plans early, otherwise I'll never rediscover a social life

Well done Rosa :) that's fab, you really are fabulous. I wouldn't worry about the hips, as we get older our body shape changes. I was shocked that my hips had grown meaning I'm up a size on jeans in mind the gap, because the hips don't fit, but the ones that the hips do fit means the waist is huge!

Hope you get to enjoy your day off on Friday properly this time, and don't get called into the office x

A long may it continue... ;)

    Fifties dress?
the dress was tight on the bust (not necessarily a terrible thing,

Often a good thing, especially in the cold.
but I mean tight to the extent of requiring rearrangement to get into it). Had a bit of a wobble about the whole thing as didn't think I'd really changed shape recently

You are what you are. If it's a problem then try to fix it, but *don't* get emotional about it. That's often the road to making it worse.
But after a more honest overall conversation with the tape measure it turns out my hips are no longer the size they were 10 years ago either :rotfl: so it appears my waist-hip ratio is safe but I need a 12 not a 10 when things are actually cut to standard.

And this is where it mystifies me why women's clothing don't use standard measurements like "inches", or even millifurlongs...

    Thanks Kerri :)

I have a similar problem with jeans, I'm constantly pulling them up to my actual waist... and they've just stopped making my favourite so will have to go through the shopping trauma all over again :( Leevi's are doing some with different curves which might be worth a try. (I just came out as standard when I looked last, but if I need to put the hips up it might be worth trying the curvier style.) A couple of friends swear by Now Look jeans, but they are both tall skinny types.

1950's style. Cut for an hourglass shape - think Marilyn Monroe.

It mystifies me too, but apparently I'm odd. There are huuuge amounts of emotional attachment, social conditioning, schadenfreude, advertising budget and diet industry interests invested in those size labels and people do seem to focus on that number while conveniently ignoring the actual measurements. (I am swamped in a 10 from Ea5t or M0nsoon, but would barely squeeze a thigh into one from TopSh0p, so could probably gain/lose 2 stone between them while deluding myself that I'd stayed the same dress size.) I guess I'll just try and have more regular conversations with my tape measure :rotfl:

Well I didn't manage to take lunch in today but I really needed to get out of the office anyway... one of my team told me this morning that nobody has sorted out renewing her contract past next week, or even bothered to talk to her about it :mad:, and nobody bothered to tell me that we might be losing her  so have spent some of today kicking up a stink about that. She has offered to stay but only do work for our team :rotfl: as she's fed up with the other stuff she's being asked to do... which obviously would suit me but is not likely to help my popularity elsewhere. Ah well.

Haven't got everything finished that I wanted to this week but that's due to being landed with other things, so it can darn well wait til next week. Managed to get myself invited to a rather useful high level meeting on Monday where I will hopefully find out all sorts of useful things that haven't filtered down properly through the official channels, so that will be good (though again may not make me popular).

Going to sleep in tomorrow and then go to either a museum or exhibition :) and might try and get the supermarket shop in the evening as will be in the city again on Monday and out Tuesday night. That would help with sorting lunches for work - which would be helpful as next week is likely to be bonkers - and I can always put stuff in the freezer.
