I have an allotment :j :j
Half a plot in the local park, less than 5 mins walk away. A whole £20 for the year... I think that counts as MSE
Might have to get a storage box or small shed for keeping tools there though. And there is rather a lot of digging to be done shortly
Very happy about that though, it means I can have space to grow stuff without having to cram the back garden. And hopefully I'll get to know some more people around here.

That is good news. Hope you have long happy times there.

Morning...
*ahem* Just nipping by, and noticed a slight inaccuracy in your diary *shakes head*...
In post 507, you say:
"After today's payday transfers this leaves me with a net status of -£10,832."
When what I think you meant to say is:
"after today's payday transfers, this leaves me with a net status of just -£10,832...and to think, I've paid off all that money and still managed to move to a better place, have fab clothes, and an allotment to play with....all is good in the world of Rosa...:)"
*mwah!*

Hello fabby Rosa
I've just been reading back over the last couple of pages & decided not to hate you for being a size 8-10 as you're so lovely
Congratulations on the allotment, I hope it brings you many hours of happiness, much delicious fruit & veg & lots of lovely new friends ( under the age of 80 which was the average where I had mine :rotfl:)

Hello lovely people
Nora, you are quite right, thank you for the reminder :A:kisses3: All is pretty good in Rosa's garden at the mo.
After securing my allotment on Sunday I was totally enthused and spent the rest of the day sorting out the back garden ready to grow lots of seedlings :j. All the various stuff is now sorted so the compost bags etc are together, empty pots together, all compost in container, plants potted and trimmed, and mini greenhouse put back together. I picked up a replacement cover for it today as at £5 it was a lot cheaper than a new one... turns out the greenhouses are a different size this year so it doesn't quite fit - sigh - but certainly not worth buying a new one instead. Just need to 'trim' (butcher) another leylandii and that garden will be about sorted. So just as well I have an allotment to keep me out of trouble
I had a lovely weekend and it was surprisingly MSE too. Have had my hair trimmed (finally) and it looks a lot better as now the curls fall properly, plus my eyelashes tinted, and am quite impressed with the results. I think I've sort of forgotten what I look like - I keep looking in the mirror and seeing this smiley pretty person instead of a frizzy, spotty, stressed n' scowling mess, and wondering who she is :rotfl: I spoke to a friend this week who said I sounded calmer than she'd heard me in years so looks like something is going right.
I was very good and went straight home from town after the hairdressers to avoid shopping temptation. This is going to get easier :j as the friend I usually meet on weekends is moving to my new area, so we can meet up in walking distance instead of the town centre. This will mean I have to organise my Lush stocks but will at least keep me out of Hotel Chocolat
I also explored the local supermarkets in my new patch and am very impressed - perhaps if I explain that the local Coop has donation bins for both the Cats Protection League and the Pedigree Dogs Rescue something or other, and they were both full, you'll get the picture on what kind of area it is
. I live just outside the properly posh bit and it is turning out to be a fantastic location as I get the benefits of the nice patch plus the quietness of being a bit further out, and a much lower rent
Anyway I have stocked up the freezer even further since there were offers on meat and fish and have taken lunch to work both days this week. Am thinking I might manage to cut down trips to the big Sainsbugs to say every fortnight or once a month, and just top up with the local stores (and the allotment
).
I have also been very very good and returned the fabulous dresses that weren't the right fit - since they just aren't fabulous enoughThe wise and lovely Lula-Hula is quite right, I am fabulous already :rotfl: and having a couple more fab dresses doesn't really change a thing
The impulse buys from Ea5t a couple of weeks ago have completely failed the Happy Test as I haven't even bothered to take them out of the bag - so they will be tried on one more time, and very likely returned on the weekend.
I've skived pole class tonight as really wasn't in the mood, and I think I might have to reconsider it. I loved the first course but am feeling I've fallen behind since and am already frustrated with having less than an hour a week access to actually practice on the pole - it just isn't enough to get things into my brain. It might be just me - I had exactly the same problem with learning to drive. My tutor was hoping to get a studio set up which would have allowed more sessions and solved the problem, but that's fallen through for the moment and the only alternative is to also go to another class of hers in the week. As work is only going to get more silly over the next couple of months, I'm thinking of putting the idea on hold for a bit. By the time I've paid for the class, the parking and a coffee because it's not worth going home between work and class it works out to about £15 a go which is too much if I'm getting fed up - it was supposed to be just fun.
I should be getting some exercise digging the allotment - lots of it in the next few weeks  - and am thinking of getting a bike which might be a better use of the money. Am also thinking that the current holiday fund of £150 could go towards a bike, as I'm probably not going to go away til at least July and would have replaced it by then - I am having time off, but will just be at home or visiting family. A bike would make things easier transporting stuff to the allotment, and my friend who just moved to the area is planning on doing some runs around here so I could join in there. Will try the local bike shop on the weekend.
Oh and after adjustments when I got my cc bills through it looks like the current total is actually -£10,790 so there's a £40 improvement already :T
Phew, that was an essay... sorry! Hope everybody else's week is also fabulous

Hello 'o fabulous one'
You sound as though you are in a great place right now, both physically with the house move & also spiritually with how you plan to proceed with matters. You've achieved such a huge amount in the last couple of years & if something doesn't quite 'suit you' at the moment, then it should not be worried about. You can always take it up again when it might 'suit you'
I've just bought a bike & this is definitely the time of year to be making such purchases. It's a cheery way to get about & unless you're going to take it very seriously, you can get a brand new one very cheaply, & pre-loved even cheaper0 -
Definitely going to find bike shop on the weekend and am seriously thinking of leaving pole til after the summer.
Taking lunch to work failed today as I was in dire need of an excuse to leave the office and dire need of Percy Pigs would do. I seem to have had a day of stuff somehow landing on me. Like still having to sort out recruitment for admin staff I don't manage and wasn't responsible for stuffing up their contract renewal, figuring out how a contract which required £380K last year can do the same work for £100K less this year (it can't, but I can help the staff prove it isn't their fault), and finding that my tactical discussion about 'our partners in this work don't seem to be communicating with us very well and I'd like your thoughts on how we should deal with it tactfully' essentially got the reply 'we're expecting you to sort it out'. Am refusing to think about the amount of money and number of people's jobs that could now potentially be affected by me stuffing up, because it would just mean I'd be too scared to do anything :rotfl:
Surprisingly my good mood has survived all the same. Am just telling myself I must look after myself properly to make sure I can do things well so will still be taking my leave next week - I might have to go in and do a couple of interviews, but that's IT. (Don't get me started on how hard it appears to be to find decent admin staff, I have already had a good rant about how I could get more CVs by standing in the local shopping centre and shouting than the agency appears to have sent -we are in a recession for fks sake, there are loads of people who'd love a fixed term contract doing interesting stuff, even if it does involve dealing with a sometimes distracted me.) I shall have a whole 11 days off for reading and allotment digging and there's an exhibition I want to see.
Hopefully work type things will all be calm again in another few months. Linked1n have helpfully sent me an offer for a free month's upgrade so that will motivate me to sort out my profile before I use it and see if any of the recruitment people viewing me actually have any interesting offers (mainly the one in California)
Am interested to notice that I must have learnt something in last year's meltdown, because now I couldn't give a monkey's if I never get the training I thought was somehow expected of me. It may not be remotely worth the extra hassle since I rather like the life I have, and there are loads of other things I can do. I think it's about time I started prioritising my social life :T
But must go to bed now as have meeting tomorrow so can't be late in. And that means I will be able to leave at a normal time and perhaps even make it to the allotment (if it's not raining).

:j
Have escaped work, despite ridiculous day
Am making risotto and going to park myself in front of NCIS/ with a book to chill completely
Off to make a start on allotment tomorrow
Am going to visit local bike shop - have decided bike would be very good use of money saved for holidays, if am not going away for another couple of months
Have a whole 10 1/2 days to chill, garden and start getting into MSc project again
Have every excuse for not even trying to go anywhere because it's bank hols and the roads will be jammed with other people :rotfl:
NSD and refund for first fab dress returns safely received.
Have to give up a half days leave to do interviews (would be less grumpy about this if it wasn't basically caused by someone else's thoughtlessness)
Have eaten rubbish and drunk hardly anything at work the last couple of days - really need to sort out stocking up with healthy food to take in - and try to eat breakfast at home(am becoming embarrassed that some people sort out kids before they get to work, whereas I am still at teenage stage of dragging self out of bed late and scarfing breakfast at my desk
)
On balance I reckon that's still :j

And why is this a bad thing?
