Well if you're ever out in the wilds, that would get you a pretty good meal. Tastes like chicken apparently..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Well in order to start dealing with my vague sense of 'uh-oh' about moving, I have now cleared through the bathroom (as the easiest place to start) and sorted things into take/ leave/ charitize. Also tackled the second bedroom as the next easiest point, and this helpfully revealed a stash of bags and boxes I'd forgotten about under the bed :T.
Am sort of thinking I should try Ebaying things to bring in a little bit of cash, but so far what I have found (Primark picture frames and Wilko's canvas prints) really aren't worth the stress involved. So I think they can just to go to the charity shop and I'll hope for payback via karma instead :rotfl:
I think tomorrow I'll make a start on the garden stuff as I'll have daylight to transplant some things. No idea where I would be able to put stuff but could always get one of those garden store things instead of a full size shed.
Also slightly concerned about fitting all the bookcases etc into one small flat  but will try and weed the bookcases as I go. I think there will be a bit of an adjustment between living in a house and having a bit of storage space vs a flat with nil

I think I've found a flat :j
This means my debtbusting is essentially fkd for the next 3 months
But not as fkd as it would have been if they hadn't agreed to the deposit in advance and the upfront rent on payday
Just waiting on references going through - shouldnt' be any problems (touches wood) and they have also agreed to reduce the rent a bit because I'm taking my own furniture. Really pleased as it's just about ideal - decent size and has a garden :j and is near friends :j and there is a bit more of a social scene in that patch of town than there is here so will help with meeting people :j.
I will need to transfer funds from one current a/c overdraft to the other and wipe it out to pay the deposit or rent (have agreed to pay one or the other in the next week or so, am hoping will get away with the rent as it's less), then the other will be covered by paycheque at the end of the month. Getting my deposit back from current landlord will cover about a third of the deposit for the new place, but will need to pay off the rest ASAP and will make this priority for the next couple of months. So it's a bit of a setback on the debtbusting side of things but I'm delighted to have found a place I like as I feel I can be happy there and could stay long term. Also hoping for a rebate on the council tax as should be a lower band, and the heating should be less than this place. I shouldn't need to buy anything - in fact may have the opposite problem of fitting stuff in! but am hoping to overlap the rent by a few days to give me some time to move without stressing. I can take a lot of it by car and just get a man with van for the bits I can't shift by myself or with a friend.
Haven't been doing much apart from toing and froing with estate agent.
But am re-reading the fabulous Brene Brown book and enjoying that. Maybe it'll sink in a bit more this time lol.
Oh and managing to cook again, and seem to have finally got bored of rubbish TV so started going to bed at a sensible time :rotfl:
And I've taken lunch to work every day this week :T and if I get on with sorting out those salmon steaks I can tomorrow too...

Your debt-busting is merely coiling itself up to launch in a couple of month's time. Some of the money you're pulling out for a deposit will come back from the previous deposit.RosaBernicia wrote: »Just waiting on references going through - shouldnt' be any problems (touches wood) and they have also agreed to reduce the rent a bit because I'm taking my own furniture. I am merely not counting chickens... shouldn't be a problem with the references and my credit record has no horrors on it. I was turned down for a low life of balance card six months but suspect that was to do with having a lot of other available credit. Might try it again before I actually move, but after they've done the referencing check.FKD? Exactly... and it will be available in future as it's essentially being put aside, not being wasted anyway. Is this the one you were looking at previously?
Yes, it's the first place I saw! Did see one other place yesterday but it's further out of town and a studio - cheaper but the room is really too small for my liking and it's an annex so would have to really hope got on with next door. Very happy with this one as it's literally yards from one friend and another is very nearby. And you're sounding a little bit happier too...
I am
How's things with you?

PS.
In other news, I have sent my form off to state that I will be sending in my MSc project and have FINALLY had a response from tutor offering to help. Only took three months and going via the course director. But so long as he agrees to read a draft I'm happy. Am actually quite looking forward to this now that I won't have to juggle it with umpteen other things at once.
D'you think it would be tempting fate too much to email the local allotment people? I am going to miss the garden here and there are friends who can be recruited if I get one near the new house...

That's good - because it's a flat, not a chicken...RosaBernicia wrote: »Yes, it's the first place I saw! Things are going OK, getting unfortunately close to the end of my holidays. I could get used to this "retirement" lark...

I would wait until you see what your life is like at this flat. Especially given it has a garden. How big is it?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Actually, he could certainly do that. His knowledge of anatomy isn't the issue, it's more the communication skills. Which probably gives away his profession...I would wait until you see what your life is like at this flat. Especially given it has a garden. How big is it?
Garden is paved over and big enough for table, chairs and plenty of pots (well it will be after I 'accidentally' overprune the leylandii - WHY do people plant those things... don't they know the things grow? ) but not for a veg patch
I'd meet people at the allotment too. Might email anyway... either on list asap or worst that can happen is have to say oops sorry you can take me off again.

Knowledge never usually is. It's the application of that knowledge. Some people can't find stuff you put in their hands...RosaBernicia wrote: »it's more the communication skills. Which probably gives away his profession...
Good knowledge of anatomy, poor communication...he's a PE teacher...RosaBernicia wrote: »Garden is paved over and big enough for table, chairs and plenty of pots (well it will be after I 'accidentally' overprune the leylandii - WHY do people plant those things... don't they know the things grow?

Just so long as it is a waiting list, and not a "choose me!" kind of list."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
