If, in a few months time, Rosa is going round saying "Ho, ho, ho - Hello boys and girls" and bursting into something sarcastically described as "song" at even the sight of a hat, then you know you should have just nuked it from orbit..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'

If, in a few months time, that happens (assuming she doesn't do that already) then I shall sit patiently and quietly while you do the "I told you so" song and dance routine around my diary.
...and then can we nuke the boots from orbit to remove their control of Rosa??0 -

By then, they'll live again - like Fu Manchu, but without the mustache."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I assure you that isn't normal behaviour for me... so will ask friends to look out for signs of dinosaur possession and report any incidents to you two for exorcism in whatever way you think best!

Yes indeedy, Lula does
Well done you Rosa, it's lovely to see such selfless rehoming this time of year.
Excellent news on both overdraft & general debt reduction :j
I shall return with something deeper once I've made my space in my brain for something other than scrabble ...

Happy Christmas all, hope everybody's had a fab time.
I have had a lovely few days being just totally relaxed - sleeping, thinking, cooking, watching Attenborough DVDs and reading. Can't remember the last time I felt this chilled... certainly can't remember the last time I had a whole 10 days off without an essay, exam, family drama etc. It's goooood. Did get slightly narky comments from family, but am not bothered as really really needed the break. If I had spent the time trekking to the other end of the country with the other crowds I would just have ended up stressed all over again. I do know this doesn't sound very festive, and it's not how I normally am, but this year has been unusual and my health takes priority.
Viewed a potential flat just before Christmas and will be phoning the agents tomorrow about a second viewing. It's only the first place I've seen but is very near friends. Also, viewing a one-bed place has made me realise I do think this is the best option for me in at least the short term. I would feel much safer having my own little corner where I am in control of all the decisions, and not at risk of somebody else changing their mind/ not paying bills/ turning out to be horrible etc. It will be far more expensive in terms of rent, but less in other ways, and Nora is right that it will be easier to cut corners where I want if I'm doing it in my own place.
Also thinking about how I want next year to be... and had already concluded I need a different way of approaching my debts than before. The usual approach has been feel guilty, pay huge chunk out of paycheque, get sideswiped by car bill/ wedding abroad/ getting fed up and depressed then buying something to cheer myself up, feel guilty again... repeat. In 2011 I managed to keep accounts for setting aside money for the car etc, and that really helped. It meant I was staying on an even keel and knew where I stood in terms of real debt and day-to-day stuff. So I think I'll do this more in 2012. It will look like I'm paying off less, but hopefully will be more effective and less stressful overall.
The other conclusion I've come to in my ditherations took me a bit by surprise. I was playing with spreadsheets to look at the new potential amount of rent etc , and took out the holiday money I had told myself I'd put aside next year in order to keep my debt payments up. Well I'm not happy about that - not happy at all - which is very odd for someone who hasn't had a proper holiday in, well, ever actually. I've had short breaks, and a couple of weeks exploring when I had my gap year, but otherwise all my annual leave has always been used for studying or visiting family. This year that doesn't have to happen... and I WANT A HOLIDAY. One with flights and hotels and fun and everything. So that money is staying in the budget and my debt payments are going down. I don't think it's realistic to pay off my debt in a year anyhow - not without making myself miserable, which I refuse to do any more. So am aiming to pay off 50% within 2012 and have a great time in the process.
That's the first step for the plan...

Have also just had a go at this which was interesting. I crossed out stuff I definitely don't want to focus on and found I wiped out quite a few things that have been highlighted in previous years (eg. Accomplishment and Progress). (This website is fab btw.)
My list of 10 came out as:
Calm
Flourishing
Hope
Moderation
Optimism
Peace
Relationships
Safety
Spirituality
Well-being
and the top 3 have ended up as Optimism, Relationships and Safety.
That sounds about right actually. I need to feel safe and settled, and feel optimistic that things can change and improve, in order to build new relationships and strengthen current ones.
I think my top value for 2012 is going to be :T Optimism :T.
