Safely back down south, though a bit later than planned due to sleeping in (I don't think I slept well at the hotel, though this is hardly surprising) and realising I'd forgotten to charge my phone (which seemed necessary after the adventures on the way up).
Petrol has about added up to what I budgeted, though I must get an in-car charger adaptor for this phone... and must go back to keeping stock meals in the house. Always used to keep a couple of emergency (healthy) pizzas and enough stuff for pasta, have run out as trying to spend less in run up to Christmas. Will end up being a false economy if I don't eat properly and get stressed and have skin misbehave. So trip to Sainsbugs is in order tomorrow. After work... ah well it's only 3 days and next week will be a short one too

If it can charge through USB, then you can get a cigarette lighter adapter for USB and it'll do phones, camera, MP3 players etc.RosaBernicia wrote: »and must go back to keeping stock meals in the house. Always used to keep a couple of emergency (healthy) pizzas
Pizza's are healthy? Excellent!RosaBernicia wrote: »and enough stuff for pasta, have run out as trying to spend less in run up to Christmas. Will end up being a false economy if I don't eat properly and get stressed and have skin misbehave.
Don't run down now. Just in case the snow man cometh. Run down just before you move.RosaBernicia wrote: »So trip to Sainsbugs is in order tomorrow. After work... ah well it's only 3 days and next week will be a short one too

It's not that bad. Will be interesting to see if anyone comments on my accent tomorrow though.Pizza's are healthy? Excellent!
Some pizzas are healthy. Usually these - ooh, they're on offer, and anyway are much cheaper than eating out there - or proper fresh ones from the Italian place near a friend of mine's. (It looks like a low-rent greasy spoon but actually does the most fabulous proper pizza. It's just as well they don't deliver as having to get in the car is all that prevents me ringing them every time I get back late from work.) The term healthy does not usually apply to the cheap frozen ones or those involving pepperoni etc.Short weeks are the best ones. The shorter the better...
Exactly... think am going to have to go into the office for a day between Christmas and New Year after all, so might move that day to shorten the week before even further

Does it change that quickly?

What's wrong with pepperoni? They have enough preservative that you'll *never* die...RosaBernicia wrote: »Exactly... think am going to have to go into the office for a day between Christmas and New Year after all, so might move that day to shorten the week before even further
We've just had our timetable for the office. It's closing so early every day I don't think I could make a full day even if I was going in..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Well I don't notice it, but apparently it does change as soon as I speak on the phone to anyone with the same accent, or if I get angry or upset. And apparently I speak to dogs and little kids in Northern :rotfl:We've just had our timetable for the office. We've been fully informed and lectured in advance this year about the two half day closures and how there will be no time in lieu etc if anyone misses it for other reasons - joys of the public sector, etc. I don't mind going in as spent years having to cover when I worked somewhere that absolutely had to have people around over the holidays - it's still a treat to me to have time off, and besides it's so quiet I can go in and either catch up on stuff or do fun bits I hadn't got round to.
Don't mind going in as it should be an interview for someone I'm trying to get put up the ladder - it's well deserved and would save me hassle later on.
Lilith - must look her up to answer that question

So you should. Teach children to talk proper from an early age and they'll never go wrong.

I don't really mind going in, it's just the time they're closing, I'd have to be in by 7am if I wanted to work a full proper day. However, the building is only open from 7:30...
So even not using holiday, I'd be losing hours.RosaBernicia wrote: »Lilith - must look her up to answer that question

Have had another idiotic day at work, most of which seems to have been spent on preparing to sort out other people's performance management issues. Clearly when I thought I was stepping forward for a new role I was actually just failing to step backwards from the mess that has been made previously. Let's just hope the *****s still agree to pay me more for it. They certainly won't find anyone else mad enough to agree to it.
Am cross and disappointed to have spent half my day chasing up an Occupational Health issue for someone I believed to have genuine need, only to find it appears that Porkies Have Been Told. Also seems there is a deliberate attempt to tell different managers different things in order to perpetuate the confusion. Don't really know why this upsets me but since a lot of people have made efforts to help this individual - not least the two currently covering her a*** and doing her job on top of their own - I did think that at least genuine efforts were being made in return. Oh well, now it will be an Occ Health referral and working to rule on both sides. Even I have to stop being nice eventually.
Raided Sainsbugs for store cupboard stuff including 4 emergency pizzas. Will be having one now since didn't get out of work til nearly 7 and have to go in early:mad: . Didn't quite mean to spend £38 but at least that's a lot of basics, and the £15 petrol was unavoidable. It's payday next week as they are paying us before Christmas, so that helps.
I hope everybody else had a better day!

It's winter time. Get some stocks in just in case of snow. You can always run them down just before you move.RosaBernicia wrote: »and the £15 petrol was unavoidable.

Ah, now today's muuucch better. Escaped work on time, following less HR nonsense and having got onto two interesting working groups - this is good 'cos if I get to help fix stuff I will have less ranting to do.
Put the radiators on - extravagance! :rotfl: so could have long hot bubble bath without snow sauna effect. Am now properly 'goddessed' and feeling fabulous. No chores planned for tonight, about to find myself some CSI/ NCIS/ etc. Oh and NSD.
Tomorrow night oughta be paperwork, I need to catch up ready for a new 2012 file and to sort claims for my work expenses and the battery-saga invoices. Saturday will be estate agents for possible new places, then drinks at a friend's, including hopefully talking to potential flatmate. Am thanking my stars for my former FlyLady obsession as the house is pretty organised and should be OK to transfer if I can find another one about the same size :rotfl:
Nearly Friday everybody! :jDebt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress
