  • Well today's been much more fun... managed to pick up a couple of Christmas pressies, have lunch with a friend, and see a relative who isn't as ill as we had expected :j. Off for an early Christmas lunch tomorrow and hopefully seeing another friend in the evening, before driving back on Tuesday.

Just been sent this on Facebook which might amuse any other language geeks :)

MSE wise have been naughty :o ... didn't escape Hotel Chocolat unscathed, and bought a pair of earrings in the gallery but lunch and pressies all budgeted for.

Oh and a ridiculously expensive (£6!) magazine on burlesque as sort of fits with the dance lessons and happened to pick it up in a place I found a few things that interested me as a teenager - thought would read it as felt like it was a happy coincidence bringing something that might be a new interest to a new part of my life in the same way. If that makes any sense whatsoever. Then again I probably shouldn't be encouraged where corsets are concerned :D

  • Just noting things to think about when I'm back home next week.
    • Accepted a lift from a semi-stranger today and chatted all through the drive - would often have been too stiff-necked to do this before, having been brought up with the principle of Death Before Charity.
    • Am feeling much less self-conscious on this trip back to where I grew up than before. Not distracted about who I might run into, or what how my life is turning out and whether it's how I expected.
    • Looking through some of the stuff I have here has reminded me of the changes I've made in my life before. I used to make brave decisions... I can again.

Yes, it was funny, but I did notice the map of Ireland was wrong quite a number of times - does that make me a cartography geek?

More commas needed I think. ;)

Sounds like you're changing. And it is for the better. :T

    And you're happy with it. :T :T

I didn't even notice a map of Ireland :o :rotfl:

    Yes. :p

Though I have managed to stay out of the one at home for months. So at least it's a rare lapse now rather than a habit.

Hopefully. That's the bit that was feeling scary. I've had so many ups and downs over the last few years that as a counsellor pointed out, I'd kinda no clue which way was up anymore.

Yes. I hope. I think if I can reassure myself I can handle the changes, that they won't turn out to be another drain on me, things will feel easier.

    Thanks Z :kisses3:

That's a good thing. Everyone should have their treats, it's when it becomes every-day that it is a problem. A single day, near christmas, when you're on a trip out isn't much of a problem... ;)

At least this time it's sounding a bit more voluntary.

Since it doesn't sound like it is being made under duress, then the pace is your choice.

Rosa, sorry to hear about your terrible journey to Scotland. I had a carp old banger when I first passed my test and the battery was completely unreliable. The best thing I ever bought for my poorly battery was a big yellow jump start kit. Meant I didn't need anyone else there to jump start it, and it's helped the neighbours out with their cars a few times too. I've since got a shiny new car (well 2yrs old now), but I'll be putting the jump start in the car from the time it turns 3 just in case. I think I paid about £40 at the time, it's a big yellow thing with 2 jump leads. Hook them up turn over engine and bang the battery starts. Leave it running for a few minutes then take off (with engine still running).

Older cars get poorly batteries in the cold, so always good to check them. Mine would just die randomly and I'd get jump starts off randoms hehe.

    Hope the week improves x

Thanks Kerri, it has a new battery now and I already have the leads but might think about the charger kit for next winter.

Yesterday and today have been much better, and I'm going to drive down in mainly daylight tomorrow so hopefully it will all be a lot less complicated.

  • Christmas shopping now done :j ... raided Waitrose for foodie goodies for the last few and remembered to use new loyalty card and vouchers, so that took a fiver off the bill and got me a free roll of wrapping paper. V amused to find that Waitrose wrapping paper is idiot-proofed - it has gridlines on the inside :rotfl: All now wrapped, sorted and delivered :)

Had fab lunch out, also evening out at Christmas shopping night in the village. Was soooo good and only bought one little thing that was sort of needed.

Hopefully journey home again should be straightforward, am going to try and get home in time for a bubble bath so can be ready to jump back into the fray at work on Wed. Will also start calling estate agents as want to look at a couple of places asap.

Still haven't got cards done though. I think I may just send some nice animated ones and put the time into writing email letters to friends, rather than scribbling my name and rushing to the post office.
