  • Oh my goodness! Were they made with golden thread?! :rotfl:
  • I'm now not doing much more 'making' before Christmas, so the wonderful extra income is going to grind to an abrupt halt very soon.

However, today I have ordered some materials and equipment, spending over £500 , but which will set me in good stead for next Christmas and the mad rush, as the materials were half the price I have been paying  and the piece of equipment will help me to produce things much more efficiently. All has come from my profit, so it's money being put back into the business.

After all is paid for, money put into savings pts etc., I should be able to pay another £300 - £500 off the credit card debt. :)
  • Out of interest, why are you stopping "making"?

Do you think it will just be a pre-Xmas business or could there be a steadier stream of work from other celebrations like birthdays?

I'm really pleased it has gone well for you this year and exciting to see how it pans out next year.

Things are just ticking over here so I have nothing interesting to report. I seem to be drawing cash out of the ATM more frequently than I would like. I get paid at the end of week - hurray!

  • Hi chocs

Yes, seems daft to stop now, at possibly the most profitable time of the year doesn't it! It's just down to my poor planning this first year really. We're going away in two weeks or so for a week, then we're going 'home' for Christmas. I need a week to tidy the house up, pack, finish the Christmas shopping, wrap everything and all the general pre-Christmas stuff! As all my stuff is made to order, I figured I'd give myself it taking no further orders and just tying everything up and getting the last couple of orders done. Hopefully next year I'll be more prepared and we won't be booking a pre-Christmas break!

On the plus side, just paid another £200 off the credit card. :0)
  • That sounds very sensible and you definitely deserve a better and more relaxed Christmas than last year.

As you say, you can make different plans next year.

Well done on another £200 off the credit card.

    Have a nice weekend!

  • Half of the weekend was great, half was pretty awful, but we made it through to Monday!

Am now having to revert back to 'normal' life of not having money appear in my paypal account daily from selling my work. I don't like it! Part of me regrets not continuing for a bit longer, but I know I couldn't have coped with the workload for another day. I'm looking forward to being more prepared next year.

We spent quite a bit this weekend, but we haven't had 'family time' for a while now due to me being so busy, so it was much needed. Also bought Ds a new lightweight, foldy buggy as tired of lugging the heavy one in and out of the boot and taking the heels off each time; but it was an ex-display model so heavily reduced.

Still have some Christmas presents to buy and really need to get those sorted, but just don't know what to get for the people in question this year, so it's proving difficult.
  • The loan payment has come out of the bank today, so have updated the signature and snowball accordingly.

Total debt now under 7.5K, should be under £7K by next month :)
  • Great news on the loan balance; you will have it all cleared before next Xmas.

Do you think you will do bits of your website work during the year or just leave it until next autumn?

  • The plan is to work on the business the whole year round and am currently designing some new products for the new year, but the main seller by far since start-up was a Christmas-themed item which obviously sold far, far better than I ever expected! That is obviously going to be the most popular item, so I guess that's when the main income will be earned. I would love it to be that successful all year round, but I very much doubt it will happen!

    :rotfl:
  • I've come home from work early because it's so quiet. I'm feeling a bit fed up this evening, I don't really know why, but I can't find the motivation to do anything and just feel really sad. I hope it passes soon. :(
