You got yours a month ago, when they were selling the older version for £10. Now you are saying you got the newer version for free - hmmmm ;)

Perhaps I was just lucky to get one or I was so polite on the phone, they decided to send me a new one for free.

All I can say is that it is the exact image of the new model that MSE user penrhyn posted.

HTHs and thanks penrhyn...you made my day knowing that I had received the latest model rather than the old.:)

Just received a mailshot this morning from Sky advertising..." 'NEW' Catch up TV". We are existing customers with Sky Plus HD, multiroom, phone & Broadband.

Says - quote...' Catch up on top shows from Sky, ITVplayer, Demand 5 and now BBC iPlayer with 4oD coming in 2013 all through your Sky+ box, straight to your TV, and all at no extra monthly cost.'

With this letter came a folder showing how you get connected, either plugging in an ethernet cable if your Sky+box and router are in the same room or if the box and router are in separate rooms choose a wireless connector £21.95.
The picture shows a small black box which presumably is the new 'N' type.

Can anyone tell me - if we buy this box do we still need to leave the cables connected from the TV's to the phone (currently two as we have multi-room) and also - do we still need the router (shown in a previous post alongside the new type N as an 'old type') although we were sent this a couple of months ago?
Will do an internet search and see if there's one cheaper than £21.95 or get my other half to ring Sky and work the oracle.....!!
  • FUTURE TIP: Phone up later at night in the hopes to get put through to an Indian call centre. Tell them you were promised this WiFi device for free and that it has not arrived... They will 9 times out of 10 send you one for free.

They are more concerned with customer satisfaction than profit

    LOL-I will try that.

Are there any other ways about doing it?

I was told that they are usually £60 and the offer is to get them for £22
  • I simply called sky and explained that the Sky+ box and modem were in different rooms and that the engineer didnt explain about the extra services that I would be missing out of.

After explaining this i asked the advisor if they could provide me with a FREE wireless connector and they were happy to provide this to me thought i didnt have to initally pay for this with my debit card but then it was refunded via a credit on my bill (i've checked and the credit is there)

on a unrelated topic, i also asked them about upgrading my account as my contract was coming to an end but they said that they cannot offer me anything until the end date..... i called back to cancel and they were quick to offer me a better package.
  • I followed the haggling tips to try to upgrade my Sky box to HD. When i checked on line with Sky they said it would cost £10.25 extra to upgrade and I would have to pay £60 for set up. I then rang Sky and said I was thinking of going to Talk Talk as they were hassling me to use their service. Sky were very helpful and I got a free Sky HD plus box, free set up and half price HD package for twelve months saving me £5.25 a month and £60 set up. They are coming Saturday to install it all. Thanks for the tips
