Personal Challenges :starmod:
Monday Pollyanna Day
Let’s try to start the week in a really positive way. If you have never read the book Pollyanna then you’ve missed a real treat! If you have you will know the idea. Today I want you to play Pollyanna:
Pollyanna's philosophy of life centres on what she calls "The Glad Game", an optimistic attitude she learned from her father. The game consists of finding something to be glad about in every situation. It originated in an incident one Christmas when Pollyanna, who was hoping for a doll in the missionary barrel, found only a pair of crutches inside. Making the game up on the spot, Pollyanna's father taught her to look at the good side of things—in this case, to be glad about the crutches because "we didn't need to use them!"
[Narrows eyes] Pollyanna sounds like the sort of kid I would have loved to have smacked around the head with a cricket bat as a child.
Nonetheless, rather than focusing on the school threatening to try and fine me £50 for Minion's repeated absences for fully documented medical appointments, I am glad that we only have 2 absences planned this week. One for tomorrow (orthotics) and one for her catchup Cervarix vaccination (due to being at a hospital appointment when it was offered at school). I will then experience the pleasure of tearing some nit's head off when they again suggest I tell the hospital to open at 6am to get her medical treatment sessions finished prior to school starting.
Preparing for Christmas Challenges:rudolf:
Monday dates
Advent starts next Thursday, have you got your calendars or candles?
Check this link for last posting dates for parcels and overseas mail and all other mail.
When is the last date for ordering your turkey?
Can you book an online delivery slot yet?
Not ordered a turkey - but have ordered a kitten. Far more fun than a manky overfed bird. Probably a bit bony, though, and hard to stuff with Sage & Onion, so might look into sticking a chicken in the tiny freezer.
I also need to sort out booster jabs for all of them, make more of an effort with buying Christmas presents and try and work through the pain it is causing that DD1 is 19 next Sunday, but doesn't want to see me again. I'm also worried that her KH father might forbid Minion from going to his house to see her, because he says she isn't family (he consistently told people that I was DD1's childminder and not her mother, so this isn't a surprise - and SMannounces DD1 as her daughter, in keeping with this I-was-just-a-surrogate policy)
I also need to a get *a* present for her (I won't give any of them the satisfaction of saying I didn't get anything). But the odds are she doesn't want or need it if it comes from me.
Bah!
I really wish sometimes that I would plan ahead and have a big bottle of bourbon to hand, rather than spend my money on cat food.
[grumbles off into the distance]I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I'm in - thanks Dusty. I've been reading - and it's now very late for me - but I still haven't finished my book - and I really want to - but I really ought to go to sleep.
Toots list - is your own list of everything that you'd like to get done around the house - it can be long term things as well as short term ones so there isn't actually a master one as it's all individual.
A frog is something that you've been putting off for ages even though it'll probably only take you 5 mins to do.NST #10 Steps 7K 2/30 10K 2/12 5 a day 3/30 NSD 0/20
