RMs IT dept seem to think its a Moday to Friday service.
many a time they decided to update the PDAs on a Friday. rendering them useless on the Saturday
of course they dont pre warn staff they aren't going to work.
So the first you hear is when calls come in about PDAs refusing to log on

Why not support your local Post Office and pay for postage ?.
Did you know that the Post Office you use gets a commission for each item of mail that goes 'pay at counter', but nothing for handling pre-pay items.
This commission is deducted from the running-costs for that particular Post Office. If the commission does not meet at least 40% of the running costs, then that Post Office becomes at risk of closure.

This was explained to me by my local Postmaster.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

It's been down for a few days, due to RM being down. Royal Mail is now back up so Paypal may be as well.

I actually use post offices more than I ever have just lately, but there really is a serious fault in a system that works this way. There was some crazy statistic I heard a while ago that over half the customers that go in a post office lose money for that post office.

I don't really think you can give a good argument that someone should wait an hour in a post office to post their items rather than print at home and drop them off to show support for the post office that makes them wait.

not when you are happy for PO numbers to dwindle.
just because its stated theres "no programme for closures"
doesnt mean they can't close of their own 'choice'
  • I managed to print two orders this morning and ever since it just states 'Paypal postage is unavailable' ...:mad::mad:

When PayPal postage goes down, it nearly *always* is the fault of RM or Pitney Bowes. Much that I hate Paypal, for a company of its size it pretty much has its s**t together.

Royal Mail - on the other hand - well, it's a national joke - a total bl**dy shambles. You have to love that question "Does it have any value?" "No, it's an empty envelope full of air, why?" "Don't sent it regular post" "Why not?" "Because it may get [STRIKE]stolen by our sticky fingered staff[/STRIKE] lost"

I suspect it has been down for so long because the IT 'experts' (lol) at RM probably keep the same hours as the sorting office collections staff. I suspect they also have the same attitude. Perhaps they should treat getting their systems working with the same priority as delivering Pizza leaflets :rotfl: ????!!!!

Many people selling via eBay don't want to spend their own money in a Post Office when they can pay using the shipping money sent to them via Paypal. Printing and paying for it via Paypal Postage speeds the counter transaction up, the counter still gets a handling charge (if they do their job properly and put it through the system) and it's just way more efficient. If you are sending bigger stuff with Parcel Force via Paypal, they will even collect for free. Who the heck would want to travel to a depot when they offer such a fine service?!

Regarding 'supporting local Post Offices', please - put the soap box away...... The romance and nostalgia is all very pretty, but you can't punish people making progress because a system is based on a outdated model. It's not the end users fault that modernisation is needed - something the left wing unions seem to keep going on strike to prevent AFAIR.
