I got an email from Appen, about a project which involves recording phrases, it says you can just get started straight away but I'm a bit concerned, I've never been allocated any work with these, I signed up last November. Nothing shows up when I login either. How long do they take to pay? Is there a chance I could do this work and they reject it? Thanks.

ETA: never mind, it won't work on my phone and I don't have a microphone for my computer.

It seems fairly official so I think payment will be prompt... they quoted mid March for me.

The work was supposed to take 3 hours.. I did it in just over 1, so a nice revenue raiser, albeit a dull one.

That is decent pay then, wish I could get it to work!

I got invited to do the glass project too. Managed to get up 220 and then chrome crashed on my tablet so i gave up. I didn't like the idea of getting even further on and it happening again and it appears there's no way to save your work. I was also unsure what i should do if i made a mistake? Once or twice i stumbled over a couple of the words. I just carried on but wasn't sure if i should start that utterance again or not.

I stumbled a few times, but just kept going.

I figured it'd be unreasonable to expect 1800 perfect recordings... I hope so at least..

Did you do this on your smartphone or PC? I couldn't see how it could be completed in three hours, as that would equate to one utterance per second, and taking any longer would not be cost effective. It appears that I miscalculated. :-(

Took me just under 3 hours on a phone, but i did have some issues/crashes. I think a PC would have been quicker.

You should have emailed them. Same thing happened to me, but they just told me to carry on where I crashed and they would track it their end.

I did it on my pc which made it very quick to do. I naturally talk quite fast, so was done in no more than an hour and a half. It was so repetitive though!
