  • Islandmaid our cat was very ill a few months ago and she had a blood test which showed stage 2 renal failure ( there are 3 stages), they let us try her on the renal diet biscuits and when we took her back a couple of weeks later her creatinine levels had already started reducing. She is fitter in herself although still weeing for England and drinking gallons! They don`t ever get rid of renal failure once they have it but the diet can slow down the progression. The biscuits and vets visits are expensive but worth it even if we only get another year with her:o. Is your cat insured?

I decided not to buy the JML dri buddy after reading a lot of reviews. DH said "That's it we are getting an A rated TD as soon as we can afford it". :D

I am another one who hates shopping at this time of year - especially on Saturday's, it is worse when your mobility is carp :(

JackieO......... I lurve parsnip and apple soup :)

Island Maid .... Sorry to hear that your cat is so poorly ((((Hugs))))

I am still crafting for the school fete so that will take up a lot of my time this afternoon.

JackieG I hope all is well with you x

    Hi all,

Really upset/angry - our beautiful boy cat is very ill, took him to the vets and a locum was in - he basically said, it could be his kidneys and it would be cheaper to put him down than give him a blood test:mad: He,s has his bloods taken and we get the results early next week - so sad to see him this way, but need to know we did all we could if we have to say goodbye:(

Off to give him a love now xx

Very sorry to hear about your cat, Its always hard when a family member is very ill.

    Hi there.

You all seem to be so organised for Christmas. It has happened on Dec 25th for all of my 70+ years, so why is it a surprise when it suddenly hits me that it's SOON.
I finish the birthdays next week so perhaps I can start getting festive.

Islandmaid: So very sorry about your poorly cat. It's just horrible when they are ill, and cats are so stoical, they don't show that they are ill until it's almost too late. Give him a cuddle from me.

Fruit cake in the oven and choc fudge cake ready to go in for the Drop-in tomorrow. I bought some wool to make a frilly scarf and started that last night. Crikey! It's about a metre long already. It's not for anyone in particular but it will do for the next church fair, next Saturday. Not terribly hungry today so apart from some toast and marmite at breakfast have gone without food. May have a boiled egg later.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Wow. Have just discovered that someone has left me a huge bag of pickling onions on the doorstep. I've not pickled onions for years but can't waste these so will have to read up what to do and see if I can track down some jars. All my jars are earmarked for mincemeat so will have to forage.
Go outside this week and sniff, with a bit of luck and a following wind you may detect a distinct wiff of onions.

  • peel them and layer up in a big dish with loads of salt and leave overnight. Rinse thoroughly and put in sterilised jars with either ready spiced vinegar or some you have heated with spices yourself.....pour vinegar on hot if you like soft pickled onions, pour it on cold if you want them crunchy.

    Hi Everyone

Just a quick hello from a field near Winsford, couple of mile from the Oulston Race Track, and think there must be some racing on!!

Being very OS, the whole weekend costing about £44, including F&C last night, and a pudding tonight, and electic in the 'van for the weekend :D
Plus the fuel to get here and back

Lou Bitsy beat me to it, don't forget to tell DH & DS how much you love and miss them, they need to hear it too. Obviously he still loves you too, else he wouldn't have bothered sending you the mail.!!
Don't know who the size 5's were, mine are size 8! However, well done you and the size 5 owner too. Hope we are trying for day 2 of eating. ((hugs)).

Tonight is another rally meal, but something we don't eat, so we are taking a salad with us, and have just have Jacket Spud and cheese in the 'van for lunch. Followed by a rally style "Who wants to be a Millionaire", so have been co-opted into a team.

Have got the needles out too, and started smalles GNephew a hoodie, some pattern as last year, bit bigger, differing colour, as he likes wearing it.;)

(((hugs))) all round, H-H take it steady gal, we need you for our further "education" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: FB will try to look at photos when home, as on a dongle atm. Take care everyone. DG

I have visited the MIL with her birthday gifts, been to Mr M for the shopping, done a pile of washing and have a huge brisket in the slow cooker for tomorrows dinner. Broth mix is soaking for soupmaking tomorrow, have a box of YS chicken wings thawing to boil for stock as if I put the meat back in pot OH demolishes it for dinner instead of eating carp!So thats what he's eating whilst I work on Tues and Wed sorted.
    RIP Iain
