OS Daily Saturday 19th November

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 19th November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
There is nothing like a lie in on a Saturday morning, but I decided to get up at my normal time!
Hubby has a cuppa in bed & hopefully will get back to sleep, I have a bowl of porridge hubby will have a cooked breakfast when he gets up.
DW finished & ready to be emptied, 1st WM load ready to go on the line, but I'll wait til it's light enough to see the line before I go out to the garden with it.
We were printing reports at work yesterday & as my room isn't very big I was delivering the reports in small batches to the appropriate departments, I had someone helping me, she is only 32 & by lunchtime she was exhausted & nearly in tears, I kept going til I left at 3, I always knew my job kept me fit.
I'm starting the day by sorting out the living room, this evening I need to finish off the last of the mittens so I can give them to the children tomorrow & if I stay awake long enough tomorrow, I'm starting a Mobius scarf, wish me luck, it looks complicated, lol.
Have a good dday everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow
I'm feeling pretty much back to normal now, had a good night sleep.
I had a lovely evening last night, flatmate came home (she is working in Cardiff now which is an hour away so has been staying with her cousin there on weekdays) and we had a good catch upwe ordered a curry and gossiped whilst watching Children In Need.
Today is my nan's birthday so I'm off for a family lunch later to the local Carvery so am going to see if there are any vouchers online. Need to stop on way and get her some flowers.
I'm considering joining a gym again. There is a nice new one nearby which is open good hours and has loads of classes. I'm a bit wary about exercising with my vertigo so I think I will pop in and have a chat to them and see what they say. I guess I should see my GP too but sees silly to bother him to just ask a question!
OS wise - need to finish unpackingbut it's only the clean stuff and presents left in the case. I need to have a good sit down and go through all my finances as a few things have changed so I need to know where I stand each month. I was going to batch cook but my freezer is choc-a-block so will do inventry and then work out what I can use up this week before I batch cook.
Have a great day all

Also there aren't many of the wedding as the bride and groom asked people not to post them on FB, but I was allowed to upload the ones I have so that all her Camp America friends could see them.* Rainbow baby boy born 9th August 2016 *

Morning everyone,
Off to netball with DD2 in a few minutes so i just thought I would pop on and say hello.
Going to Sheffield later today to meet up with a schoolfriend, should be fun.
Mike Harding was great last night but I did think that i was probably the youngest there, I am 47!:D
Hugs to all that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Hellllloooooooooooo! Miss me? Thought not
I haven't been doing much lately. I meant to clear out the greenhouses a few weeks ago, the plants were dying off. I didn't get round to it. I went out there on thursday and there were a few tomatoes waiting to be picked. On the veg patch there were a few beetroots I'd forgotten about, I pulled them up and they were the size of small footballsThey're probably no good - I imagine they'd be woody - but I'll chop them up later and pickle them if they're still OK. The sprout stalks are doing well, should be ready for Christmas day.
The chickens are laying between three and seven eggs per day at the moment, so I'm still selling them.
I'm going to fence off the end of the veg patch (where the sprouts live) and let the chickens loose on the rest of it. They do a much better job of weeding and digging over than any human ever could
I've bought the advent calendars, the selection boxes and the Roses. So that's me happyBulletproof0 -
Morning all,
BM, DW and WM going like the clappers. Off out at 10am to pick up a huge Xmas cactus from Freecycle chappy, it will look lovely in the conservatory. I love Freecycle.
I'm going to clean all pictures in the house we have so many, think I'll count them, just looked around the sitting room whilst in here and there are 24. Also need to clean the large glass containers that I put big church candles in. Some brass and copper in the inglenook could do with a polish too.
Making a chilli jackets for DH & DNephews lunch. They're hoping to get the new roof finished today, the old one is stacked in the drive. I can't wait until it's all done so I can get my garden back in order.
Fresh cod loin, chips and salad for dinner.
Have a good w/end all. UOLYPOOL how is your Niece ? Getting stronger I hope.x0 -
good morning all a crisp bright November morning here inKent.(well the sun is trying to come out at least.
Flutterby gym idea is good, but if you hang on a few more weeks all the post-christmas offers start with Gyms and you may get a better deal for joining one.
Today I am doing some cooking I will be making apple and parsnip soup as I have some 'bendy 'parsnips to use up and I love them in soup.A quiche to use up some streaky bacon and the few mushrooms I have in the fridge. Some chocolate topped fairy cakes for the DGS tomorrow and probably a lemon drizzle cake and a victoria soponge cake. That should keep me busy till lunchtime at least then a jcket with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch and afterwards I shall be wrapping Christmas presents and probably watching catch-up t.v.
Feet up and some knitting after dinner tonight so I shan't poke my head across the doorstep at all.Shops are too crowded on Saturdays at this time of year, and I am happy being a home bunny in the warm.Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs>> to those who are down and are in need.
Take care all

JackieO - Totally agree about the shops on a Saturday this time of year, luckily I usually get some days off in the week.
Hester - I had to google a modius scarf - very nice. If I wanted to knit Christmas pressies I'd have to start now for next year.
Well, it was a better night at work and about an hour to go till home time, having a quick coffee to keep me awake on the drive home
It's looking a bit cold out there - brrrrrr.
Have started making and using lists a lot, if I dont things don't get done
Will try some OS done when I wake up, might even get the WM on before I go to bed.

Morning all! Hugs to those who want them :grouphug:
Up early this morning as DH has had to go to Leeds with work. It's overtime so I'm not complaining but I wish he could get up and get ready quietly. If he could bump into it, trip over it, find every squeaky board/drawer, he did:p
Had a bit of a tidy up and going to head into town soon. OS style I'm going to walk into town, only takes about 30mins at a stroll pace but last time I caught the bus in it cost £2.90 return, I nearly fainted with shock . It's only a mile or so away. Need to go to the P.O. to pick up a parcel and post one to a friend. She had an op on Thurs so am sending her a few puzzle books to keep her occupied whilst she recuperates.
Need to make mum's retirement card this aft seeing as we're all going out to celebrate it tonight. I suspect I'll be feeling a little delicate tomorrow.
Take care all, enjoy your day xxx0
