    Got 2 leather sofas from Argos 18 months ago. Large one's main beam split after 2 weeks. Argos sent someone out to fix it and it has stayed together but the springs are sagging and we're looking to get rid as they've become very uncomfortable.

    I have got two Argos sofa's and I think they're fab, they're chocolate leather and were in one of the half price deals but I still think they are lovely.

    To be honest, in my local Argos (Cardiff Bay) you can go and sit on them all and try them out - maybe one of yours does?

    Just to add, when me and OH were there, we sat on the big sinky fabric ones and we thought they were to die for!! Really really comfy and lovely and big.

    Of course there's no saying how long they would last but still very nice!

    cardiff bay has a fair range, but by no means the complete selection of what argos stock.

    nearest other stores with furniture on display would be swansea high street or gloucester, but they dont have as much as cardiff bay

  • Well, inspite of being terrified on spending so much on sofas we'd never seen in the flesh, let alone sat on, these arrived on Monday;

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/catalogId/10651/zone/specialOfferZone/C$PROMOTION/1/partNumber/6280628.htm

    I must say we're very pleased with them. The semi-aniline leather on the wearing surfaces is gorgeous - soft and shiny. The corrected grain used everywhere else is much rougher to the touch and should cope well with our toddler banging his digger into it every five minutes.

    We are surprised how high they feel - the feet measure 90mm and the overall effect is to make you sit up more than you'd like. Perhaps over time the cushions will flatten out a bit, but if the feet had been 50mm high I think they'd feel a bit more cosy.

    They aren't perfect;

    1) One of the back foot inserts on the smaller sofa is cross-threaded, so the bolt only goes in a few millimetres - just enough to hold the foot in place. I'll fix it when I can be bothered to dig out my 10mm tap.

    2) On the larger sofa a seam on one of the back panels has been scraped, presumably prior to packing (they are very well packed for their journey from China). It looks like it will respond well to some TLC with a brown crayon and some polish, certainly not bad enough to hassle Argos for a swap-out.

    3) The big one has a plastic middle foot to support the frame, but unfortunately it's not long enough to touch down! It's easily solved - I just need to find something to go under it, but it does suggest the feet they've supplied are on the high side.

    All in all we're happy with them, and at £800 for the pair they seem excellent value.

    :)

    My sofa from argos cost £600 for a 2 seater and 3 seater chocolate leather sofa - its ok, it does the job but the arms are a bit 'cardboardy' - apart from that its real good for the money!!

    The first one I bought was the wrong colour and scratched and they took it back no hassle! I would say that argos is good if u not loaded and want a cheap sofa - i reckon its all good!! :)

  • We bought 2 settees from Argos about 6 + years ago, the last year have been looking tatty, but pretty good considering the hammer they have taken for the price.

    Mixed bag of views here, some people reporting Argos settee's fall apart after a month, others saying theres has lasted years.....

    Stumped!
  • Some of the Homebase sofas actually come from Argos and are the same price, at least at Homebase you can actually see them and try them out.

    We are pleased with the two Argos leather sofas that we bought from Homebase.

    You can also get spend and save points and might be able to buy on a 10% off weekend.

    Leather sofa's i have had from Argos have generally been of a poor quality and fallen to bits within months. Infact one of them, was here a week before it was carted back off.

    Our sofabed came from Kirkdale, which seems to be the same company as SofaSofa etc. We've had it for at least 5 years and its still going strong, despite currently being used as a trampoline/ climbing frame by my 2.5 year old and her friends. I think their prices are very competative too.

    Hi there
    I work in a hostel and needed to buy three sofas for the cluster houses. as you can imagin these sofas go through hell and back. Anyway i bought them from Argos 2 years ago and they still look like new, in fact i bought on and even got the other one free. hope this will help you

    Can anyone advise me as to the quality of sofas from Argos?

    Have seen one I really like in Harveys but it's £47 delivery, and I saw the Watchdog programme about lots of people getting screwed about regarding delivery times, so have gone off the idea.

    However, have now seen an even nicer one in Argos, but apart from the (smallish) picture, how do you know it's going to be any good?
    It's not a cheap one, nor is it part of an offer (BOGOF etc.), it's a fabric softie one.
    Anyone - any experiences?
