Has anyone bought sofas from Argos?

I won a chocolate brown leather sofa from Argos in their competition with the sun in 2005. Despite it taking forever to be delivered (probably not as important as an actual sale!) it is the most comfortable, loveliest sofa I have ever had. It is surviving the constant abuse from my 3 youngsters (8,7 and 4) very well and still looks brand new"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Congratulations on winning the comp by the way :beer:2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
They haven't got the same one that I won on there and I can't remember the poxy name of it!! THIS one is very similar (to the point where I think it may be the same one just with a different name!), although mine is definitely chocolate rather than chestnut and the price was £999.99!
It was a brilliant comp - the terms forgot to mention 1 entry/win per person and hubby and I won loads (phillips shoqboxes each, black and decker decormate each, massive george foreman grills each, the sofa and some sporty stuff too!) - just wish they'd do it again lol!"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

Hmmm, quite a few worrying comments here.
It's the Felicity range - soft squashy fabric sofas is what I'm after. I looked on Homebase's website and it's there too (same price) so I may see if they have it in store.
Sounds a bit like Argos's sofas aren't built to last then.
Plenty of people have put me off DFS, Watchdog put me off Harveys, and CSL and SCS don't have many nice fabric ones. Ran out of options really!0 -
How about M&S, John Lewis, Laura Ashley or Next? Not sure if its what you want price wise but they do have quality.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I bought a really cheap sofa for my first flat many years ago, before they did furniture quite as much as they did. It was excellent, I had it five years, and then passed it on to some friends who bought a new house, they had it three years too!0

I bought a Lucy sofa from themhttp://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6400484.htm
I have been very impressed with the quality for the price and delivery was really hassel free (suprised!).This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I've just bought two large 2 seater sofas from marks and spencers - They were reduced from £900 to £450 each (Sylvia - sand-weave I think).
My last set were also from M+S which I bought second hand three years ago (now 10 yrs old) and only changing due to a colour change in the house - well worth a look as long as you order before the 1st feb when the prices go back up again.
