I am with the Derbyshire at a similar rate, but a NW one would be more convenient if I could swap to my other accounts.

All I have in my inbox is some rubbish about a 1 year fixed rate bond for only slightly more than this!
Save for 1 year and earn 3.40% AER. Get this fixed rate if you deposit £5k to £500k and leave it untouched in our 1 Year Fixed Rate Bond. This limited offer may be withdrawn at any time. Early closure will result in an interest charge and you’ll need another NatWest account for the payment of interest

No, they will offer it to 'rate tarts' - they've offered it to me, and if they looked at my current/previous accounts with them they'd see that I've done nothing but take advantage of them, and have moved my money in/out as soon as rates have risen/fallen.

    Nope,
Not to me, I've been offered nowt - just logged in in to re-check.
I move my money out faster than a rat down a drainpipe come the end of the bonus period - applies to any savings group.
As I did the last time NatWest offered a market leading account - moved the money in, and them come then end of the bonus period moved it out again.

However, I don't think that's the reason why you have not been given an offer, since I match the same description of 'faster than a rat down a drainpipe'.
  • I've got all my meagre savings with Natwest, mostly in an isa. I have an e-savings account already open, currently empty, but they haven't offered me the new one. Shame, as I'll shortly have a reason to want it.
  • I applied for this yesterday lunchtime, and a line about the new account initially appeared in my online banking account although it wasn't useable yet. That diappeared yesterday evening, but there was a link at the top of the page inviting me to apply for this saver.

Today when I log in, there's no sign I ever applied for the account and the link inviting me to apply has disappeared. Do you reckon something's gone wrong with the application?

No - although when you complete the application it claims that your account has already been opened and is ready to use, that's incorrect. It took them over 24 hours to get mine opened - and that was during the week, it could be longer at the weekend.

Just keep waiting and it should appear. But don't put more than £1 in until the middle of December anyway as it'll only earn 1%!

Had a conversation on chat today, this is a part of it ...

    Q. "Why are some customers being offered an esavings account paying 3.12% by invitation ?

    A. The new bonus offer is only available to customers who don't have an e-savings account and have less than £100 in savings"

Not sure I believe this, has anyone with an existing esaver been offered the new account ?

Do not believe a word they tell you, they told me a few months back that a new e saver was coming out that week that would beat the existing e saver account, I think they were worried on the amount of customers withdrawing at that time when the bonus was coming to an end. Logic tells me that they have until Jan early Feb 2012 to come up with a new deal as the extended offer draws to an end. Why now its not like Nat West to think ahead.
  • They've just told me that it is for people with dormant e-savings accounts, and because mine had 12p in it it was earning interest and therefore not dormant.

    Silly bank.
  • I got offered one and applied. Never had an esavings, just a reward reserve and a current account, current account had 3 pound in and others 0
