When I get eating apples that are not very nice tasting (surprisingly common from peoples gardens), I usually peel, core and slice them, then zap them in the microwave for 2 minutes and pour some custard over them for my pudding. I never bother to add sugar, the custard is sweet enough.
The good thing about this type of apple, is that people give away lots, as they don't like them. I'm still working my way through last years, although some types are getting a bit wrinkly now.
I find eaters store better than cookers, but perhaps I'm just unlucky with cookers.0 -
Well I have settled on eves pudding and a crumble - will have to be careful with the sugar but hopefully i can cut down on some of it.0

All apples can be used to make an apple crumble or pie. Baked apples would be nice too. Maybe just stewed apples with cream or custard.
You could use them to make apple muffins, or apple cake.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Or make your own toffee apples.
If you don't want to use them up, storing them in the fridge at 3 degrees should make them last a while."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I had the same tonight and used them to make apple sauce to go with our pork dinner. Didn't use sugar as they would be sweet enough already. I am going to freeze what is left for another day.:hello:0

I always used eating apples when making apples and custard for my two when they were little as you didn't need to add any sugar.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
