I've managed to pick up the HSA3400 for £50 from B&Q at the weekend (Not fitted yet). However I have 3 downstairs doors, so immediately need 1x extra door sensor, also I am unsure how manu PIR's I should fit for maximum security? The 2 that come with it I would locate upstairs landing and downstairs living room. The door sensors would cover the rooms with no pir's. Does that sound ok or would PIR's be required in every upstairs and downstairs room as well?

Bearing in mind the answers to the above, where can I get extra PIR's and door sensors, I'm thinking it may be as cheap to buy a whole new alarm kit again and use the bits in the box / keep other bits for spares....

i would buy another kit. you can use the extra keypad by the back door (assuming the first one is by the front door) and the extra siren can be mounted at the back of the house and set to trigger when the first one sounds so everything can be used.

Ah cool, can I link 2 keypads to one alarm box? The box will be on the side of my house and will not need to sirens...

Also suggestions on PIR location would be ideal thanks.....

I bought 2 alarm systems at £50 as I figured that it would be cheaper to use the sensors out of the 2nd pack than buying the sensors sepreately, anyone know how much sensors are? I am after the door sensors.

    Thanks

check on ebay Baby A cos i picked up 2 movement sensors really cheap :)

20vt-rs check in the box there should be a guide of how to install.
only advicei can give with regard to door sensors would be if you put on back door in the kitchen the you would have to screw it in as ours fell of (setting alarm off as TAMPERED) due to steamy kitchen and cold UPVC frame

Yes it will be in the kitchen, I'll bear that in mind, thanks. I need 3 door sensors as I have a conservatory too. I think I only need one extra door sensor and nothing else, not much point having pir's in every room upstairs if you need to get to the landing to move around. One on the landing will pick up the movement, also one downstairs will suffice as the kitchen dining room and conservatory all lead to the lounge, so my other PIR will be in the lounge.

Bearing that in mind I'll be buying one extra door sensor which can be found on Ebay for around £15... Cheaper than buying a complete new system.

  • One word of caution, these are not pet friendly. Yale advise that pets will trigger the motion sensors, and that you should purchase either Kit 3 or Kit 4 which are pet friendly apparently.

I do have cats' but will just place the PIR's in a couple of rooms which the cats have no access to.

Other than that, it looks like a good kit overall.

we have kit 4 and leave our cat in all day and she hasnt set it off.
i guess it depends on how high up you put the motion sensors to the ceiling.
we done the walk tests especially up the stairs with the cat and then with us the cat didnt set it off but we did.
    we have 4 motion sensors
1 up on the landing facing towards the top of the stairs from the other end of the hallway.
1 down in the living room facing the patio doors ( our living room door has a lock on it so theres no access to the rest of the house if anyone was to get in through the patio door )
1 in our dinning room facing towards our kitchen and back door
1 in the downstairs hallway facing towards the front door.

we have 2 door sensors 1 at the front door and the other on the back door.

You can't use an additional siren with this kit. This is from the FAQ

    14. Can my system operate more than one siren?

All the Yale alarm systems other than the HSA3000/3200 and HSA3400 can be programmed to operate more than one siren.

    This Kit 2 is HSA3400
