  • That's a point - characters. There have been reports that there are very few characters during Jan-Mar so please be aware of this. There were some comments on The Dibb about this last year.

I am sorry you did not have a good time hopeful, Xmas is invariably the busiest time of the year at DLP - especially the Bank Holiday weekend (a mistake we made as well on our first visit and we gave up trying to get into the MK and went for an early lunch, was a complete waste of a day). And I am told that Kids in Paris have Wednesdays off school and it gets busy that day - however, we have not experienced that at the times we have been.

you will need a lot more than £150 spending money. a hot dog is £7!!!
there are ways to do it on a budget though ...

    eat a good breakfast
take snacks and drinks in with you for snacking on through the day
eat one big meal in the evening ,but not in the parks ( try macdonalds or val d'europe ) if you do want to eat in the park and aren't fussy what you have then pizza planet is good value

some days we have been there we have been too busy / occupied to stop for / think about lunch lol !

some meals are so large 2 people could easily share too

oh and stay OUT of the shops if trying to stick to a budget :rotfl:

It is really worth checking all of the options before you go on the DLP thread in MSE and there is another unofficial DLP thread from google if you are trying to do DLP on the cheap. Don't rule out flying, you can get cheap easyjet flights (prob other carriers also) and there is a direct train from CDG airport to DLP gates which takes 11 minutes (although the fares are not particularly cheap - book online and they can be). As another poster mentioned, there are much cheaper hotels all the way down the RER from Paris to marne la vallee (DLP) - these are quieter though, and obviously require a short train journey (usually 10-20 mins) but the food is better/cheaper/warmer and you can go to the cafe in DLP park (outside the gates) if you really want characters. There's a huge supermarket and shopping centre in val D'europ (2 mins away next train stop) which is cheaper, any shops/garages within circle are not good value, although better than buying a bottle of coke in DLP. We've stayed in lots of different hotels, more recently "explorers" as there are 6 of us. Good room, good facilities in hotel (if noisy) and lots of chance for the kids to "make friends"but has got expensive - we like it better than santa fe and new york. We have stayed in a couple of apartments, OK from a practical pov but very quiet at night. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, you used to be able to buy an annual pass - if there are 5 of you, you get 20% off, and you can use it for 2 years on a run if you time your trips right ( i think it works out the same price as a 3 day pass - so if you do fancy taking your time over it/intersperse it with other things, it is well worth looking into. We have been about 12 times, I'd avoid the holiday season like the plague unless you fancy queuing for everything, sometimes for hours. To be honest, Port Aventura in Salou is as good and cheaper, but does not have the characters and the cachet of DL. Hope this helps, sal xx

We've done the sun deal twice but booked our own overnight stay. First time we got a good deal at the Dream Castle hotel, and second time at the Explorers hotel.

However, both are in a sort of hotel complex and shuttle buses run along the complex of hotels picking up guests all day long very frequently. You could easily park for free at these two hotels and get on the shuttle bus. On both occasions we got the ferry at a stupid hour and drove down to Paris and parked at the hotels. We then got the bus to the park enjoyed our day there and then got the bus back. We didn't check in before and had no problem having left our car there all day. We could have just got in our car and drove away.

I've just booked the Explorers hotel again for this year. We have 3 kids and its the only one that really accomodates a larger family. We were really happy with it last year. Lovely swimming pool and a free soft play area. We booked a crew 6 room which has a seperate room with bunk beds in off the parents room which has a double and twin beds in it.

are you taking the Eurostar into Disneyland Paris train station? If so, the free shuttle bus stop for the Kyriad, Explorers, Magic Circus and Dream Castle hotels is right outside the train station. Its the number 54 bus, usually pink or silver. It takes less than 10 minutes to get to or from the hotel to the parks/train station.
