DLP and WDW are 2 VERY different places.
That being said, some of the rides are better, ToT is different and they have a few rides there they do not have at WDW. There is also an extra bit of the Backlot they do not have in Florida - it's nice to see the comparisons. But what you pay in US$ you'll pay in Euros too so it is MUCH more expensive. It is the one thing that grates me really.
I love doing both but they are in no way comparable - even though they look the same. Some of the European guests can be so rude and there is a lot of pushing and shoving, it is a lot more civilised in WDW.
Give it a try but do not stay in the Cheyenne, Santa Fe or Sequioa Lodge if used to WDW accomodation, you'll be disappointed.0 -

How do those 2 hotels compare to the other onsite hotels in terms of quality and distance from the park ?0 -
Think i may leave it this yr also due to the looong drive
was very tempted to go wednesday as was 300 pound for 2 nights including ferry and you can go staight into the park no restrictions.
Oh and if you stay 2 nights you may have to purchase xtra tickets and 9.50 only valid for one day.
Although we did get xtra hrs with this deal cos we stayed in a disney hotel so allowed in at 8 rather than 10.0 -

we have just returned from orlando ( staying on-site at disney ) and the girls do not want to try DLP ( though i guess 4 trips to orlando in under 5 years means we love WDW ) they are worried that DLP will not live upto DLP
just called the wife over and said about the sun DLP break and she laughed at me
so thats that idea put to bed
Do you go to thrope park? legoland in uk? etc because DLP is better than these but they are still good.
Dont be a holiday snob might suprise yourself, i went to cornwall this yr n was lovly and had no horrid flights n transfers! keep you mind wide open..........:D0 -
eurotunnel back the next day £FREE as will use £10 clubcard vouchers
We were planning on getting the early ferry there, then driving to Disney, dumping bags etc and taking shuttle to the park for opening time. Then the next day we will go and have a nosey around Paris, show the little ones the touristy bits, then will drive to the eurotunnel and be homeward bound. Works out cheaper than upgrading with the sun for us!
Just be aware that can't use Tesco vouchers for Eurotunnel tickets where the journey initiates from Calais and if you purchase a Return ticket and don't use the outward journey the return journey is also invalid.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

they are both rated as 2star hotels, both have similar size rooms, restaurants, gift shops etc. They are opposite each other, about 15 minutes walk from the gates of the parks, and both have their own free shuttle bus to and from the parks all day every day. The Cheyenne undoubtedly has better external theme (its a Wild West town) but the Santa Fe has more recently been refurbed inside and has a Cars movie theme. The Santa Fe has 2 double beds as standard in the rooms, the Cheyenne has one double and one set of bunks as standard in the rooms.
I really like the Santa Fe - I prefer the room configuration and the vibrant colours of the inside of the hotel over the Cheyenne. But if you have a Toy Story loving child over a Cars loving child, the Cheyenne would probably suit better.
eta - if you are thinking about a trip to DLP, there are some great forums around, like DISboards and DLRPMagic etc, where you will get lots of great advice to make the most of your trip.0 -
I have to say, the rooms at Santa Fe were absolutely grim and we was in a refurbished one. And don't get me started on the breakfast..... If you can stay in Sequioa Lodge or above, then do.
The walk was only an additional 5 minutes but the hotel really was awful and breakfast was just a scrum with people pushing and swearing at each other using the F and C words.
It was packed when we went and could not get moved, first - and last time - we stay in a DLP 'budget' hotel.0 -
I would like to go and pay the upgrade to come back the next day, but book my own hotel rather than stay at a Disney one. Do you know if that is possible? On the booking website the only options I can see involve staying in their hotels.0

Was this the 'character breakfast? I was considering paying the extra £16 for this as it would be a real treat for dd, but won't bother if it's as bad as you say! :eek:0 -
