your not silly, silly isnt nearly strong enough to describe it.
it has nothing to do with you, and you are trying to involve yourself, very selfish.

  • I went out for birthday drinks with a good friend of mine a few years back, and unbeknowingly one of the party was the drummer of Coldplays brother.

I was quite sloshed and very loudly slagging off CP and saying how much I hate them, how I would put a CP CD on at the end of an evening to get everyone to go home etc..

I felt someone kicking my shins under the table and hissing at me to shut up, and only then was informed that the guy sitting opposite me was the drummers brother.

He thought it was hilarious! :rotfl:

    I hate CP btw :D

Get over it, there's no vindictive plan behind it. Brother buys 2 tickets invites your boyfriend cos he knows he likes the band. Unless the brother knew they were your favourite band on the planet and you would sell your granny to go and deliberately didn't get 3 tickets. In which case, blame the brother not the boyfriend. Yes its ok to be jealous - but it wouldn't be very brotherly for your boyfriend to say to his bruv "you know those two tickets you bought, can I have both and go with my girlfriend instead".

Think about it. The above seems to what your heart is hoping for: that your boyfriend's brother will gift you his ticket and will forgo spending quality time with his sibling. That is highly unlikely. And it would ruin your relationship - with your boyfriend and his family.

I'd just like to add OP: better to have a moan on here than to make your bf feel bad about a special treat.

But I agree with the above too. I hope you feel better "talking" about it here, so you won't have to say any of this to your boyfriend. It's not his fault that his brother loves him! ;)
  • I wonder how different this thread would have been if she didn't like such a crap band.

Did his brother know you loved coldplay?

my OH is often out seeing bands (none you'd know) with his best mate, i don't often go for various reasons, but i don't get stressy over it.

Although OH and me went to see Erasure a couple of months back at a "small" gig... venue over subcribed and we were like sardines, was most upset as we had to get out as we couldnt breathe..

OH's best mates does ask if i would like to go knowing that most of the time i would say no, and he knows i dont have hissy fits about it.

I get rewarded with being taken to the odd gig with OH and his mates and am well looked after, even had my photo taken with The Captain a few months back (Captain Sensible)

missing a gig is not the end of the world, i'd be just as happy sat at home watching my favourite band on dvd and torture the household with it, (Pet Shop Boys)
    GNU
    Terry Pratchett

My OH and I enjoy a shared interest. If a family member/friend/whomever invited me to an exhibition, I would certainly ask to include Mr W. I know he'd be hurt if I did not.

Kate, you may have over-reacted, but your OH was being rather thoughtless.

And for all those quick to judge sorts; You've obviously never been married to a music fan. After all, fan is a contraction of fanatic.

Got to wonder who keeps buying their stuff havent you? One of the dullest bands in the world (and I've seen ZZ Top live!).

Still, the mass experiment to cure insomniacs in various arenas next year will no doubt be a resounding success.
    ;)

Yep. Last time the clocks went back, someone suggested it was an amnesty for all those wanting to return that album without prejudice.
  • Chris Martin and Bono are top of my 'abandon on a remote desert island and leave there forever' list ::p

Can you imagine the hand wringing and earnestness of it all! :rotfl:
