Thanks I have a black 4g ipod still in use so checked and they sending pacaging out to me.Mad my son had one and his stopped working last year and binned it....

I had a blue one and a green one, are they 2nd gen?? Can't remember having a black or white one, maybe a silver one?

The coloured ones are 2nd gen. Just black and white were 1st gen.

The first gen nano was only available in black and white, if you have any other colour it will not be first gen.

Anyone had their box yet to send it back to apple? I requested mine last Thursday and still no sign

Had an email saying they were sending me the box and that there would be no charges to pay..but its not arrived yet, would imagine they are very busy...

It took a fortnight for mine to arrive so I wouldn't worry. It wasn't a box just a jiffy envelope and a return envelope.

I've had my new one returned within 1 week, it is a 1st generation relacement, either brand new or refurbed, it's definately a different unit as the serial number is different. Nice one

I keep on forgetting about this... I still use my Black 4G 1st Gen Nano which I think I bought the back end of 2005 from Curry's.

It is old and scratched but still works like new... not bad going for a 6 year old electrical product in this day and age as a lot of things don't last 2-3 years
