I finally got around to registering mine on the Apple website sure enough mine is one of the fauly ones.

I filled the online form out on Sat and got my prepaid packaging today to send it back

Mine didn't over heat and I have used it all the time since I originally got it 2005/2006 I think. But I am looking forward to getting a shiney new 6th Gen 8G one in replace for my scratched to bits 7 year old 2G one

Yeah the first generation nanos are either black or white on the front and a shiny silver on the back panel.
As mentioned in a post above most people know what they are selling now or people are just bidding them up so they can get a cheap one to send away for replacement so be surprised if their are any auctions that finish cheap

Does anyone know how long it is from you posting the ipod back to them it shows as received. I posted mine last week and am panicking that its gone missing as its just showing that they sent me the packaging out.

Mine took over a week for my status to be updated as it was sitting on "empty box shipped" then about 10 days later it moved to "product replacement pending" which its still currently showing at

I registered mine with them 21/11 got the pre-paid envelope few days later and posted it back to them 29/11. My status showed as return envelope shipped until 17th December then all at once it went to received, checked, pending replacement 17th December. I then got replacement 6th generation on 13th along with an email dated 13th Jan saying replacement was shipped on 12th. So don't worry when it's still showing as not received after a couple of weeks or more.

I posted mine back on 5 December and am still waiting for my status to be updated from "24 November - Empty Box Shipped". It's a frustrating wait, especially as I know someone who posted theirs back on the same day and received their replacement last week!

I'll feel happier when my status is updated to confirm they've actually received it. I've phoned to check but they just advised that there is a huge backlog to deal with.

Product replacement 7th January - still waiting, so it seems to be taking at least 4 weeks.

It takes about 6 weeks sometimes longer i sent my mine off about the 25th nov and got it back about 2 weeks ago ish
