    Spiced Christmas Cookies

I've added them both to the recipes index

Hi all :) Well tax credits day for us so we no longer feel like the Cratchitt family, lol!

Did quite a big shop in Aldi - £65 (not including £9.99 for a 4 bird roast for christmas) and got tons of things including some stocks for my baking cupboard, free range eggs etc They had Maris Piper potatoes on the super six for 69p for 2.5kg! Also got two little boxes of chocs for teacher presents and some euclyptus honey for dp as he has a cold (as usual when he has time off and there are lots of jobs needing doing 8) ) Will update sig now. I think I will rejoin the thread though from the 16th until january as that is still two weeks that could do with keeping in check so we don't have a horrible january x
  • 94p spend on milk today in Scotmid - used to be 86p or so in there! Will have to remember to stock up more at the weekend in Asda, not a big saving but better than nothing.

Eating out the freezer this week, so when we go shopping on Sunday I can actually pick up some things for the Christmas holidays! It's full to bursting at the moment.

Hoping for a NSD tomorrow, but we'll see.

Just got back from MrT's and spent £37 on Six pints of milk, value yoghurts, ground coriander ( just noticed I picked up schwartz rather than T's own, what a blimmin' waste) and GF cereal plus 10 boxes of Lindor chocolates for teachers and TA's  They were two for £6 instead of £4.50 each. I shall have to be more organised next year and make HM gifts.

Had to buy tomatoes and eggs and also treated us to a cake each to have with a cuppa. Balance is looking very grim but I still have plenty in stock.

Think I have got myself in a bit of a muddle. I started the challenge on the 25 November but I said in my first post that although there are 5 paydays for me in Dec I am setting a total of £200 (approx £50 per week) as the last week will be covered by leftovers from Christmas. Am I right in thinking my challenge will finish on the 22nd Dec as I started on the 25th Nov? If it does I will have 2 weeks money still to come in December (23rd and 30th) to see us over the Christmas period and into January. But would the money on the 30th count as Dec money or Jan money. Hope this makes sense to you because it has totally confused me.

Ches - you set your own rules so it is entirely up to you. The only thing I would say is trying to fool yourself is fatal. In my case this takes the form of a huge home delivery in the dying days of a failed month when it 'doesnt matter' as I have already blown it.

  • ;)Ches if you are saying five paydays and £200 then you have £40 each week if its a five weeker. Either that or you count the last payday as January-but you can't have it both ways. If you are having it as £50 per week then its only 4 pay days. Five paydays and 5 weeks at £50 is £250 if I am understanding you correctly. That is another reason I work mine out as an annual budget then allow myself 1/12 of it for each calendar month or I just know I would screw up! Good luck with it however you choose to jiggle it-it's not always easy when you are just starting.;)
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
