  • Another NSD today for me, trying to hold out for as long as possible before doing another shop. I know that I will be over the budget this month but as it was a complete guess for my first month on GC I am ok with that. I will see what I've spent and shave a bit off for next month's budget and carry on like that.

I still have the roast and veggies to buy for Christmas dinner but I'm going to get that next week.

Hope everyone who's feeling under the weather is feeling better today :)

Today will be a NSD for me.
I am determined to tackle my freezer today, tidy and inventory, i'm still full
of this annoying head cold which is making me tired, but the freezer really
needs to be sorted, so plenty of cups of tea, some lively music and I
    should get it done.
Also need to write cards and wrap some presents as I am behind with
    all that.

Tea will be whatever turns up in the freezer.

  • Hi Everyone,

I am just here to declare my first two weeks shopping.

I am doing exceedingly well this month, even if I do say so myself.

I have had two deliveries from Asda over the last two weeks. Week 1 was £39.88 and I have just had another delivery and after using my £5 EVoucher for price guarantee my spend came to £48.23 including delivery. These are both under my weekly budget of £50 so I am getting there :j

We have a lot of freezer food still to use up and several Xmas dinners round other peoples houses so I don't think we will be spending too much over December.

  • A little bit disappointed because I went over budget at the weekend, spending £42 instead of £40, but so far with £119, I'm still £1 under budget for the month.

Got the Christmas dinner shop to do this coming weekend, so I expect to go over again.

I'm still doing quite well, though, and without the challenge I'd be spending £50 - £75 a week easy, and then chucking most of it away. I might drop my weekly spend down to £35 in the new year, however, and go back to batch-cooking more stuff from scratch again.

  • Hi all

After lurking for a very long time I have decided to come out of hiding and ask to join :D

There is me, OH, 2 cats and a rabbit in my household and currently spending anywhere between £200 - £300 per month (the more being the more takeaways we have )

I get paid on the 22nd of the month so can I take part in this months or do I need to wait to January to start?

I will be aiming for everyone in the household to have been fed on £200.

Question for the forum: do I count Tesco vouchers as money in my GC budget or as discounts? What is the general consensus? We've got about £60-worth.

The last couple of days have been very "spendy". I went to Costco on Friday (£62.79), then the kosher butcher's yesterday (£88.46, which included a turkey), plus Lidl (£14.66) and still have to do my big monthly supermarket shop as well as stock up with veg for Christmas. Some of this spend needs to come out of a different pot, "the bulk fund"), since I stocked up on castor sugar and tinned tomatoes at Costco and toilet paper at Lidl. I haven't analysed it yet to quarantine those items but if I leave them in then I'm bust without those vouchers. :(

Oh, and the butcher confirmed he can get me a goose, so I've ordered one (price unknown but estimating £8/kg). That pushes my GC budget up to £250, as per my original post.
