Cheers Rosie. I hope that they help some of the posters on the board as I know some want to get their bills down a bit more. Though I don't do many quantities for ingredients as I am a bung it in sort a gal but I hope that doesn't put some people off trying the recipes.

Question for the forum: do I count Tesco vouchers as money in my GC budget or as discounts? What is the general consensus? We've got about £60-worth. ...

    Hi PipneyJane,

I don't count vouchers in my total as I think I've already spent the money in the sm anyway.

But if I wanted to have a record of what you've bought/consumed in a month like wannabehermit, then you could have a list of spends including vouchers but not count voucher spends against your monthly budget iyswim.

Welcome stephga23, start when you prefer, it's really up to you. Some of us tracked spends for a month before joining (though it looks like you've already done that). It really is up to you if you want to do payday to payday then start your January challenge on 22nd December through to the January pay day. OR just start with us on the 1st January and record calendar months.

I use the calendar months as OH gets paid mid month and mine's the last working day before the end of the month. So for us a calendar month works best.

    Hope that helps,
    Spigs

Spent £4.42 in MrS last night as needed xmas cards and they were reduced and B1G1F so glad I'm awfully late getting xmassy IYKWIM:p. Also got tampons, whoopsied whole trout-2 for 54p, tub of whoopsied olives for 14p & a loaf of bread for 10p.
Sunday we did our big shop at MrS with our Nectar points that we'd saved for xmas. It came to £92. 33 but we had £89.00 of points so the shop came to £3.33 off the GC as the points were part of a comp win ages ago. We topped up on bits and bought our xmas free ranger and a huge gammon joint as well. We have a good bottle of red in and our favourite cheeses so next week hoping only to need veggies, a few naughty bits and the extras I need to make some nice meals as I will have time to cook properly for a change ( off to menu plan I think tomorrow evening:D as I have lots in to work from).

Almost forgot OH popped into A$di and bought satsumas, bananas & potatoes so although he had no receipt it must have been approx £2.70.

Hoping to be under budget because of the Nectar points spend so will maybe use the leftover GC money to top up on essentials for the stock cupboard.

Monday was a NSD and I am planning one tomorrow too.

A NSD today for me which is just as well because OH having a bad day, so couldn't leave him to go to the shops anyway.
Tea will be beef and veg that I had slowcooked and put in the freezer, along with some L/O mash that was in there.
Why is it that I can take containers of food out of the freezer, tidy up freezer and then still end up with less room in there than before I started

morning all, i'm off shopping tonight but shouldn't have any food spends gonna treat myself to new jammies, and wanna get the kids xmas socks and possible some festive hats aswell as some under the tree pressies for oh as he got a laptop and our kids are at a good age now to understand santa and i don't want them thinking daddy was bad and got no pressies cause he already got his laptop, so far i'm thinking socks and jammies and some smellies i've already got.

My mil will be buying me dinner out (i hope) so i asked hubby what he wanted to do, i have pizza and garlic bread (everyones fav) or he can take the boys for a happymeal and he can get chippy or chinese, but he was very good and said just do pizza and garlic bread so i'll set it all out ready for the oven, he would normally say chippy so he's learning :)

could be worse Sproggi atleast you know whats in your containers i really need to start labeling things, we regularly have freezer suprise and not on purpose lol
