December 2011 - Grocery Challenge

I've been following the November thread, and would like to join for December.
We spend far too much on groceries - those daily trips to the shop across the road sure do add up..
I'd like to go for £400 for December. It's a big number, but we're hosting Christmas this year and I need to set a realistic budget to cater for everyone or I'll give up before I've begun. I hope to cut it substantially in January.
The less we spend on groceries, the more we'll have in our cash account (see sig), and I'm determined that this balance will go up in December rather than down like it normally does.
Wish me luck!Future hopes, dreams & emergencies fund: £4,000

I'm going to go for £50p/w so as it's December and a 5 week month (I shop on a Saturday usually), please put me down for £250
I'm trying to set my frugal living budget for 2012 so hope this will give me a good base to start from.

NSD today for me. Had tuna butties for lunch and have mince out fo the freezer for tea - might make a bolognaise or might just do mince and potatoes.
Kids are off tomorrow so I have said that we will go shopping to Liverpool - I hope that it doesn't cost me too much!! It's not likely to be out of the grocery budget though as we will go in after lunch at home.
My friend has just got a panasonic breadmaker and is raving about it so much that I am thinking of getting one!Jane

£4 spent in the last two days - milk, loo roll, kitchen scourers and tealights (dithered over whether to include the latter, but probably should) Did go to Poundland for cheaper deals though, so could've been worse!February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500

I've just done a massive food shop online to be delivered tomorrow  (although technically tomorrow is still in Novembers budget I am not touching anything until after midnight
) We have run out of everything trying to keep under £200 last month though so it's a bit of relief that I have a much higher budget this month so I can stock up ready for January. I may even get my elbows ready and brave the supermarket on xmas eve for a few bargains

Checking in to decalre £200.00 for the month of December. I had it for £250.00 last month but I was toght on the reins so if I can do it for fifty quid less then that should be a good benchmark!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money
