I am quite interested in this as a Benefits advisor. I have recently taken a keener interest in benefits advice for Autistic adults and an intersting one that comes to mind here is the sensory issues some Autistic people have regarding the preparation of food. Many Autistic people cannot prepare food due to the feeling of touching ingredients. Many also have limited diets and are fussy eaters. I am unsure which descriptor would cover this.
This PIP seems too simplistic. I know a client with complex mental health problems with very erratic sleep patterns and they do many daytime activities during the night. Currently they get HRC as a result of this "inverted" lifestyle. How does PIP take account of this situation?0 -

Really? All virtual reality to avoid them paying out their virtual money I suppose?0 -
Well I can't use knives or carry boiling pans or even lift the hot food from the micro to the plate because at any point I could keel over without warning. I don't even drink boiling tea so how many points do I get there?
Also querying the continence descriptors, can't find one that suits (google defecation syncope).
Really not sure how I'm going to fare with this. It's bad enough to write down that every time you poo you're at risk of cracking your head off the radiator without actually telling someone this!0 -

Were your 39 points including the Mobility Part or Just Care Part?
I scored 27 on care and 10 for mobility but I am visciously rebellious about my mobility independence.0 -
GlasweJen - I think this still needs to be refined. It does not seem to take account of things DLA did like risk of aggressive and anti-social behaviour, blackouts, self harm/injury, prevention of danger to self/others, confusion, hearing voices, self neglect, awareness of common dangers.0

Virtual slaves must be going to be a big seller christmas 2012 after our lords and masters get them off the drawing board, who else will be doing things for us when we dont have the money to pay for help?
That said from reading it I should be ok because my disabilities "fit" now but they havnt for the whole two decades I have been disabled though.0 -
I think I got 10 in care (4 for cooking, 2 for bathing and 4 for continence) and 15 in mobility.
Very very confusing!0 -
i cant even work out what i got where, for dla my standard answer was that the risk and or reallity of a seizure without warning affected many things, and tbh most people in my situation got lrm and mrc,i cant see this happening as this stands, lets hope its a work in progress0

I'm the same woodbine, out of interest what are you scoring? Are you around the same as me or am I way off?0

It seems that disabilities such as Epilepsy are being wired out. I am unsure about depression as the prompting descriptors are there. I wonder if the form will have a tick box for the descriptor and then a blank box underneath for your own explanation. The mobility part seems to be more ME friendly though. From what I know of this the descriptor about moving 50 metres and then no more would fit many ME patients. Whether this gains the higher mobility rate I am unsure.
I expect as PIP matures and as tribunals are heard and caselaw is made then it will become clearer.0
