Even if he's right, do we really need 3 threads discussing that roundabout video, really?

In the two videos you've posted links to, there are aspects of Strider's driving that appear to be different to what I'd do. His use of roundabouts (in terms of lane selection and signalling) isn't one of them.

Whilst fog lights are annoying when not needed, I can only suggest that if they are preventing you from seeing the same cars brakelights you probably need an eye test!.....was someone exaggerating slightly?

Why do you say that? When it says the same in the highway code and I have witnessed this happen before I knew it was mentioned in the Higway Code. It does do this on some cars.

My viewpoint on the fog lights issue is simple: if you can see another vehicle you don't need the fog lights on.

So when a car looms out of the murk behind, they'll be able to see your fog lights about the same time you see their headlights, and the fogs go off. And in practical terms there's no need for fog lights at all until visibility is worse than 100 yards.

Unfortunately quite a few people seem to be educated that the first thing to do on encountering fog is put the fog lights on, when instead the first thought should be slow down.

I don't agree with this, head lamps are 55w bulbs, tail lights are 5w or 10w. In heavy fog, just because you can see the guy behind's headlamps does not mean that when you switch off your rear fogs (which are intensified beam 15 - 21w bulbs) he will be able to see your pitiful tail lights.

I do agree that my 200 yds should really be 100yds (so I changed it), and I do agree with that other poster that if it is foggy or very foggy and there is no one behind you it would be good to put the rears on and turn them off as soon as some one appears in the rear mirror (depending on how thick the fog actually is) And if it is extreme fog then as soon as they are close enough to you to be able to see you without them you could turn them off.....but not turning them off just because you can see their 55w headlamps there has to be more reasoning than that.
  • Fog lights should be connected to a speed limiter. People would soon give it a second thought if they couldn't go faster than 30mph.

I always find someone having their front fogs on to be more annoying thatn the rears....... but even that cannot compare to the rage I get at night when sat at traffic lights, and the driver infront keeps his foot on brake pedal instead of putting handbrake on, blinding me. Then every time I blink, I see a red patch for the next 2 miles. Makes me wanna get out my car so for the next 2 miles, all they get is flashbacks of my fist hitting their nose.

A lot of that is due to the design of modern brake lights.

As well as simply being significantly brighter, there is a growing tendency towards not having any form of diffuser directly over the bulb. When you're behind an older car the brake lights just aren't an issue.

You should think yourself lucky you're not one of the people who can see the flickering effect from the strobed LED lighting that some cars (e.g. Merc) use.

That would just mean they wouldn't turn them on in the fog.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

Then you need to have an eye test and attend an anger management course. Although some people might find the application of brake lights to be a bit of a niggle, I can't see why you should be "blinded" for the next four or five minutes, if this does happend you shouldn't be driving at all.

To go to the extremes of the level of violence you have displayed, I'd say that you should consider relinquishing your driving licence to the DVLA as soon as possible.
