Yes there was fog but visibilty wasn't reduced enough to warrant putting them on in the first place.
In any case, I was behind the dope in nose to tail city centre driving and couldn't see the burk's break lights being used.
At the lights I said you still have fog lights on and he replied the same as your comment.
How the hell do these people get on the road in the first place?0 -

How did he hear you if you were behind him?0 -
Yep, that time of year again when the numpty in front of you insists on keeping their fog lights on.

You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves.0 -
One of the surprises I had when I was learning to drive was how they teach you nothing about when it is appropriate to use your lights.
In fact, since all my lessons were during the day, we didn't have a single conversation about lights the whole time I was learning.
If I am being honest, I don't know what all the different light settings are for on my car.0 -

Because I had enough of guessing when he would break and being blinded that I changed lane, eventually we were level at the lights.
He was an old codger that should have been tucked up in bed by matron rather than let loose on the road endangering other drivers.0 -
Just treat it as a sign that they are incompetent.
If they are unable to select something as simple as the appropriate lighting for the conditions, then they are almost certainly unable to manage more complex tasks such as navigating a roundabout.
I've been driving since the mid-80s and can probably count on one hand the number of times I have genuinely needed the fogs on - even when the visibility is bad there is someone 10ft off my back who does not want his retina burnt out.
(Not that I am brilliant behind the wheel myself).0
