Rear fog light idiots

I don't recall doing a single driving lesson in the fog or ever using fog lights in my driving instructor's car. I believe there's a huge number of drivers who haven't looked at the Highway Code since passing their test. I don't think it should come as a surprise to anyone that there are people who don't realise there are more sophisticated ways of thinking about fog light use than just to switch them on whenever you see some fog somewhere. It's a pity, but I don't think it's a surprise.
But it's not just their use in fog that gets the gander up, it is their use in rain as well. Arguably worse, because the rain acts as a prism and can intensify the glare. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

All the better to blind the poor fool coming towards you.0 -
Whilst fog lights are annoying when not needed, I can only suggest that if they are preventing you from seeing the same cars brakelights you probably need an eye test!.....was someone exaggerating slightly?
The glare from rear fog lights can often be enough to encompass a large part of the retina, thereby obscuring any other lighting. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
If the country is as short of cash as we are told surely it would pay hands down to employ some more Traffic police to fine all these idiot posers and do the ones on the phones whilst they are out there0

I'd fine the lot of 'em, roundabouters who don't signal, yellow box hoggers, parking on bends, double parking blocking off a whole side of road, running out of fuel, those that ignore the right of way of oncoming traffic at narrowed traffic calming roads, speeders, mobile talkers, amber gamblers, slow drivers, middle lane M way hoggers, those that want to turn left (or right) but find that lane chocablock so decide to go down the emptier lane then push in...etc etc etc0 -

And the drivers who pull out from behind me when I stop at a red light, overtake me and drive through said red light. This has happened to me at least 3 times!0 -
at least people by you have any lights on at all. Saturday night, walsall ring road (hardly the quietest of roads) at approx 7pm ,followed a moron with no lights on for half a mile, flashed him, sounded horn, nothing. when i went past him my wife noticed that his dash wasnt lit up at all, so its not like he could have not noticed (my dash lights up when lights are off as well as on - 2004 civic). he eventually stopped behind me at traffic lights and i had to get out to gesture at him that he might want to put some lights on.
Last night, also in walsall, on my road, a black car coming the other way at 11pm, no lights on. i spotted him due to the reflection of my headlights so stopped for him to come by (parked cars on both side of the street) i flashed my lights a lot, and when he slowed moved past me, staring at me like i had 3 heads, i said to him (we both had open windows) "you wanna put your lights on tonight?" only to watch him in my wing mirror the rest of the way down the street continue without putting his lights on...
It concerns me that should i fail to see someone driving like this, and have an accident that with all lights on would be my fault, but for their stupity i cannot see them, how would i ever prove they had no lights on?0 -

How were you able to see vehicles with no lights then?
They must have obviously been visible, surely?0 -

Yes, for but a few seconds when they went past in the opposite direction......
It only takes one driver to overtake or pull out of a side road and suddenly Mr/Mrs no lights is gonna cause a serious accident.
My bets are still on a slow driver with no lights entering the motorway at the accident spot near Taunton. But we need the media attention to die down before we hear the truth.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
