The "Pay ALL your debt off by Xmas 2012" challenge

Well I've totted all our debt up and we've got £3497 to clear. I must admit it's a little bit more than I thought but £1845 should be cleared within 6 months just with the normal payments so any extra I can pay off will be a bonus. My smallest debt is £320 so I think I'll pay that off first (as a psychological boost) then add the money saved onto the next lowest debt.
I'm another one who doesn't care for NYE, I enjoyed it when I was young but now I don't like the enforced fun and the expectation that you've got to have a good time, plus I don't drink so the usual attraction isn't there for me. It's also my son's birthday on NYE so it's always been more important to us to celebrate that, he's an adult now so he's out celebrating with his friends (plus he now lives miles away) and we're just old fogeys who like to watch telly with a nice cup of tea.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

Yep, DS is off to secondary school so im totally _pale_ until 1st March when I find out if he got in. Hes a genius at maths and runs like a whippet, and this school is a sports and maths academy so i think I might cry if he doesnt get in
Plus to top that off DD is starting primary school and ive not put her forward for her catchment school either :rotfl: so will still be worrying till 1st May when her letter comes through . . . Hi all!
Well, tht was Christmas then
Mfou, so sorry you are having a time of it- SO horrible over christmas- Thinking of you x
I hope everyone had a good one- I am suffering from cabin fever a bit, although I did escape to work yesterday (boo) and went out for two hours delivering leaflets hopefully to drum up some January business this morning (big business, the diet industry in Jan!)
I have just paid another £50 off my Vanquis *dances* I have paid £65 at least this month and I think the balance is about £150 so I really want to shift the rest this week hopefully then start in Crapital One with a veangeance
I have dipped into the online sales a bit but like everyone else, theres nothing I want. I would like some Lush stuff if they do an offer, and I bought some running stuff (theres a theme here Kerri lol) from Littlewoods (will probably send back- I bought reebok easytne trainers- bargain at £34 but I have at least 6 pairs of trainers I can think of off top of head so not a justifiable purchase really.....)
What I really want is a bag from Cath Kidston AND its reduced! Its £48 in the sale and I was given £50 Xmas money.........Having a dilemma though although I have been a VERY good girl and almost paid of Vanquis. Also by my weird shopaholicy justification I am thinking If I buy the bag online now, then I will have no more Christmas money, and therefore not need to go in town (which ALWAYS leads to spending...) COunsel me, oh wise onesHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Dorset Girl So know that feeling, Its great paying it but you kind of need to see the proof to make it real!
Jake's mum Personally I think its a good plan that way he can't over do the family budget, and he has a bit of his own cash but understands the greater good you are doing for the family budget0 -
Just paid £57.18 off Simply Be so that is CLEARED!! No MORE!!! £00.00. Yee hah! Go meHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Ahhh idris do you NEED a cath kidston bag :rotfl: I must admit when I read £48 I went  as the only handbag I own is from debenhams £20 in the sale and my husband bought it fo me as I was  £20 for something to carry my purse!! I have a pocket for that and its free!' :rotfl:
At the end of the day the money s not coming out of your household money, it was a gift for you to buy something you want as the gifter didnt know what to get. If what you want is a cath kidston bag then get one, if what you want is £50 off your bills do that. I dont think theres a wrong answer to this oneSPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -

I'm sure whoever gave you the money would want you to treat yourself and just think of the pleasure you'd get from looking at and using the bag.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
