What about pens, felt tips, colouring book, magic painting book etc then take her to your nearest toy shop and let her choose something that she would like? Just a quick idea off the top of my head! Or is there a Build a Bear/Bear Factory type shop near you that she could choose a teddy & clothes? Good Luck x

  • Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, and welcome to all the other newbies. I am really looking forward to getting started. Had a PJ day so asked DD1 to pick me up a page-a-day diary for budgetting but she forgot. I'll get one organised soon, I find it easier to keep it all written down manually. I might do a spreadsheet but PC belongs to my work and I have to give it back in Jan. My old one hasn't got microsoft at all so I would need to buy this but can get it cheap through work. Tried to work out exactly how much debt I actually owe but I need to await the impending credit card bill then I'll know for sure. Dreading it, but at least I'll know what I'm working towards.

have a great night everyone. x

Thank you again everyone for your lovely hugs and words of support. ......... Now maybe I was being a little selfish but it's done with and all I can do is try to take the stress and worry away from this part of their lives now so they can try to concentrate on their relationship.

Mfou, I can only reiterate and agree with all the other comments on here, I'm so sorry you've had such a rough time, worse than you were expecting. Here's hoping that some good can come out of the situation - even if it takes a while. You're not being selfish at all, you deserve your own life and a healthy work life balance - so now they need you and you've stepped up to the plate I hope you manage to get things in order quickly and try to remember to keep some time back for yourself. Any time you need support just pop on and we'll be here to help you xxx

I've decided against my big purchases even though they were going to be interest free because I can't stomach the thought of having to post a higher figure onto my debt mountain :rotfl:

Jakes mum I would go for craft or baking, I would do a photo recipe i.e. print off photographs of each stage of the recipe for your little one to follow and you could have the ingredients weighed out into little bags so you really can just supervise and help only with the essentials. How about combining this gift with a trip to the cinemas? - usually a £1 on a Saturday morning. I think this close to Christmas it's more about having a special day and quality time rather than trying to find a toy which outdoes Christmas - ifyswim?
