  • I don't think I can do Xmas 2012 however, with a target of January 2013, I don't think I'll be far off. I actually started last year with an aim to clear half of the £30,000 I owed by this Christmas - Done that now so only £13292.93 to go now.

    0 / 13292.93 :o
    Total Unsecured Debt - Summer 2010 - £68244 / Summer 2011 - £57252 / Winter 2012 - £38495 / Winter 2013 - £21520 / Winter 2014 - £9342. / Summer 2015 - £0 - No Agreements, no payment plans, no settlements, no bankruptcy, just hard work.

    Morning everyone :)

£8.66 for me today, so I am up to £18.16/£7873.87. I am going to have to pick up the pace a bit, but once Christmas is out of the way I should be able to do that.

Hope everyone is staying safe in this awful weather.

    Good Morning Everybody,

May I join this thread please? I had my LBM in August 2006 and have been repaying my £12,000+ ever since.
I have one (closed) CC with £1786.19 left to pay on it and am aiming to have it paid off as soon as possible.
Mid 2012 would be ideal really, but we'll see.

No debt busting for me today, but I am having a NSD (must not buy crisps or chocolate on the M3 later, or that chicken take away you get at service stations with those crushing milkshakes).
Feeling a little bit meurgh today over a conversation with the OH yesterday that would normally be a bit trivial but it's becoming a sticking point. He doesn't want to get married, I refuse to change my name by deed-poll and I refuse to not have the same family name as my kids just because he doesn't want to get married. Not so bothered about the married bit, more bothered about the fact I've always wanted 2 kids and he has decided that he either wants none, or only one because the earth cannot support it's population. Mumbojumborollocks argh.

Moan over, happy debt busting everyone.

Morning all!How are all you DFWs doing today?

I'm sure things will somehow sort themselves out Kerri eventually. My Hubby is going through a broody phase again, pressure I think from his mum who wants a grand daughter. We agreed years ago we weren't going to have children, I've never wanted them and at 38yrs old my mind hasn't changed.

We have agreed however to have a savings challenge each month starting in Jan where we both save our loose change separately (instead of just throwing it all into the same pot) to see who can save the most. I'm hoping it will encourage him to save a bit more so we can pay off the debts quicker:)

    Happy debt busting xxx

Oh kerri :( I feel your pain a bit, My DH and I had our son, then moved in together, he DID propose but wouldnt set a date! He used to sort of say 'yes I do' when id get upset about it and accuse him of not actually wanting to marry me, but wouldnt actually say 'come on lets get a date sorted'. I hated having a different name to my son (he wasnt planned so I didnt really have a choice :rotfl:) and we got to the stage of me saying 'if we are not married by the time im 30, im taking jake and going as 13 years is long enough to make your mind up'

Obv we have got married but I do have insecure moments of I forced him into it, he always denys this but it wasnt really the excited wedding planning that I had invisaged as a child :(

If you want kids and he wont get married you could always give them your sirname, tell him if its not going to be acase of you being out of the family name it will be him. Is there any reason he doesnt want to get married? has he been married before? or did his parents get divorced or have a horrid marriage? my DH always said he was only going to do it once, and I think that he scared himself a bit as it was very much 'its got to work!' or he would be alone :o He's a bit of a funny one tbh likes to put unneccesary strain on himself :o

Re the amount of kids, thats something you need to talk about, though I will say my DH wanted none as he already had 2, then our favourite accident turned up and was the best present I ever gave him :rotfl:. We were content with the 1 but it was jake that convinced us to have another as in his 5 year old words he 'didnt want to be on his own anymore' and our favourite plan is now 3 and the person that gets me out of bed everyday :o

So im basically saying regardless of all the plans, talking and compromses you make, it may not even turn out the way either of you thought it would. (oh and as an ETA, I wanted to have 6 kids when I was little . . . so glad I didnt follow that plan through )

Wow 6 that's mad! His parents got divorced when he was 11 and he's an only child so doesn't understand my reasonings for wanting 2. Not being on their own, learning to share, standing up for one another etc, all key skills you learn earlier if you have a sibling.

I have told him if we're not getting married that's fine, but I'm giving the kids my name and he wasn't happy about that as he's the last of his surname. I apparently can't win. Argh! I'm just fed up of being the one to always compromise my beliefs. I shall talk to him about it later I think. This is another one of those hurdles in dating someone 10yrs my senior I think.

Oh and he's got £10k+ of debt that needs to get busted, but won't get busted until he finishes uni *cowers*

Did I mention I've got a yummy lunch today? Bubble & squeak with rice (well, it's potato, carrot, onion, mushroom, white rice (thought it was brown oops), cabbage, leeks all mashed together with a small teaspoon of chilli powder, salt & pepper om nom nom)
