Morning all! No specific debt-busting from me today, though I had lunch paid for my work yesterday so I supposed that saved some cash. My flatmates have decided we need a Christmas Night Out, so I'm going to have to try and direct it somewhere cheap, as they both earn a lot more than me (tho complain they're underpaid:mad:) and seem to spend money without thinking about it.

Got really annoyed last night too, my flatmate was complaining cos she doesn't like her new boss because "she's young, intelligent and pretty, but its just favouritism". Sounds a lot more like jealousy to me! I should explain that my flatmate is one of those women who doesn't really like other women, especially if they are young and pretty. I didn't really have much sympathy cos I'm 25 and pretty ambitious, so I guess I expect that (if I achieve all I want) people will say the same about me (except the intelligent and pretty comments :rotfl:).

Anywhoo, need to do Christmas shopping tonight, and really hopeful I can stay below budget. With 13 gifts left to buy I want to get half tonight. Have found that I don't quite have enough left over Christmas cards to cover everyone. I was tempted to cross people off the list but I decided that was a bit harsh, so will be getting more cards and writing them over the weekend.

Wow 6 that's mad! His parents got divorced when he was 11 and he's an only child so doesn't understand my reasonings for wanting 2. Not being on their own, learning to share, standing up for one another etc, all key skills you learn earlier if you have a sibling.

I have told him if we're not getting married that's fine, but I'm giving the kids my name and he wasn't happy about that as he's the last of his surname. I apparently can't win. Argh! I'm just fed up of being the one to always compromise my beliefs. I shall talk to him about it later I think. This is another one of those hurdles in dating someone 10yrs my senior I think.

Oh and he's got £10k+ of debt that needs to get busted, but won't get busted until he finishes uni *cowers*

oooo i think id say 'right 2 kids your sirname, 1 kid my sirname or we just get married take your pick' im not one for letting dh get it all his own way. Hes 9 years older than me and my comromise on the wedding was I agreed to a church which I was completely against as I dont believe in any of the faiths (no idea about God, but think the church is a liar) so felt a boit of a hypocrite, but it was very important to DH as he is a believer and christened. Was completely honest with the priest (though much more tactful than on here )

Im much happier now we are married as I now feel like a real member of our family :o does that make any sense??

EDIT: oh and both DH and I are the youngest of 3 so looking back im quite surprised at our decision to only have the 1, glad we changed it :D

Well I'm blaming Frozen Planet for his sudden reduction in the amount of children he wants. It's most amusing that he's so concerned about that, but not by the fact that he's going to end up working in IT... how much plastic?!?!

Just wait till the New Year, I think the number of members will explode with everyone thinking of New Year's resolutions and totting up exactly how much Christmas has cost them this year...!

I think it's just as important to try and keep in the black rather than pay off your debts especially over this time of year. This is showing that you're changing your spending habits which is great rather than just moving the problem about on different cards/overdrafts. Shows you're spending within your means rather than your credit limit so well done!!! :T

Just want to say a big WELCOME :wave:to all our new members and well done to all my debt busters :T:T!

I'm being dragged to the Trafford Centre tonight  which I'm NOT looking forward to this close to Christmas but my friend left her car keys on a tray in a cafe and didn't realise until she got home (her friend was driving and luckily my friend has a spare key at home) so we're going tonight for some food and to get her keys. I'm trying to rack my brain for ideas for my older sister and her husbands Christmas present and also one for my Uncle as these are all I have left to buy...

I'll update all your totals and add our lovely new members onto the second post once I'm back from the Trafford. Hope you all have a lovely day, I need to get back to doing some work... xxx
