What a great idea, I love a challenge. I am doing the pay off all your debt by the Olympics but this is very unlikely to happen. Even this challenge will be a stretch. Can you add me to the list? My total debt is £6231.61

Can someone hide my credit card from me please, I'm on a spend high and need to stop spending =(

I ended up putting about £700 on my credit card in about two weeks - I only got the bloody thing for a balance transfer but at least I snapped myself out of it and cut my card up before I went even more bonkers with it :o NEVER want to have a card again after I pay this one off - I just cannot trust myself not to buy stuff I don't need/want once the buzz of shopping in the first place wears off

LOVE the next weeks challenge idea! Thought last weeks was fab but seen as I ended up working the whole time it didn't work out for me :( Am definitely considering heading up to bed right now though - I could do with an early night getting cosy in bed, it's so blooming cold!! :snow_grin

    In debt no more!
  • I love the ideas of recording and celebrating each regular loan and credit card payments than just the over payments I can only imagine I would get pretty fed up with the odd £10 here and there!!!

    My plan!!!

Make as much food from scratch as possible
NSDs - if go to supermarket put what would have spent in challenge jar First NSD for a long time today!!!
Find a suitable jar to start Done!! GOt massive sealed metal tin found in kids room
Collect all loose change - put in jar Started this today
No more school dinners... Sorry kids! Packed lunches done!!!
Walk instead of use the car... On school run this works out £2 for one 'shuttle' put this money in jar or overpay CC/Loan. Saved on one "shuttle" today as a friend dropped kids for me she's also taking them tomorrow so I will go and put £4 in my new jar NOW!!!
Take flasks of coffee, drinks & snacks out with us.
Switch lights off and heating down. This is a big one for us, have started nagging the kids already
Eating out/takeaway is a treat only!!!!

Am finding it really helpful to have a date in mind as I don't feel I'm being deprived of things forever, there is a definite date when I will be able to have stuff if I still want it... does that make any sense... :o Am saying to myself 'but do you need it before next Christmas' and 'but will it last til Dec12'... which is good as it's focusing on MY life NOW not some other life I think I might want :o

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Just think of the disposable income that will be ours after we've paid our debts off!!! xxx

This weeks challenge starting tomorrow is going to be the "put 1 thing back" challenge.
What you have to do, is when you're out shopping and you've loaded up your trolley/basket and ready to pay, put one thing back. I wonder how many items you have in there that you don't really need, you'd just like. Then put that amount towards your debts. You might surprise yourself.

Brill idea Kerri, am definitely going to do this

I count every payment that brings me closer to my goal. So I count all credit card payments over the interest. So this week I have made a car loan payment, various credit card payments but my overdraft has increased. So overall I have about £100 less debt:j

So today my total paid (since I started) is

    £1457/ £15000

    Keep posting everyone:D

  • Hey everyone, had a lovely time in York today, please don't ask me about the money I spent tho :rotfl:
I am IN for the next challenge, didn't really do great at this week's challenge and couldn't keep up with what I was in credit/debit with so i am just chucking £10 towards the debt, NO treat, I've had enough treats this week. :money:
I will let you know when I have paid it so it can come off my total.
    See you tomorrow everyone x
    Don't turn a slip up into a give up:D
*NSD Challenge Nov 0/10* *£10 a day challenge Nov £0/£300*
No buying unnecessary toiletries challenge-in it for the long haul

I failed this weeks challenge miserably :( so as I have to go to the bank tomorrow to payDH's credit card I will pay £10 extra for my failure :o

Looking forward to this weeks challenge as I am already a serial 'putter backer' I leave a trail of items on my travels (yes that is me that puts biscuits in the toilet roll aisle :o) so hopefully will do much better this week :j :j
