I have a very posh night out on Saturday and have only just realised that I haven't got anything to wear for such a posh do! In the tradition of MSEing I am now going to ask my friends and family if they have anything I can borrow before I consider having to either buy something or feel underdressed whilst there!
Ten days until I can post a payment!0 -

Right, my time related challenge will be to be round our house (currently staying at mum and dads while ours is getting renovated) sorting it out by 9:30 every day I'm not at work. :T Though I may have to start tomorrow since it's 9:50 already
Don't think I'll be making any updates to my total on here until the end of the year as I'm still on my 2011 challenge and at least xmas will be out of the way!
Are you guys doing any other challenges? I'm thinking of doing the 'Frugal Living 2012' one to try and get bills right down this year.Parents - £4000/£0 paid
OH parents - £9000/£0 paid
Mortgage - £125,000/£0 overpayments0 -
Deeperblue I'm doing the Frugal Living challenge. I started it last year but went off the rails. It's quite a fun challenge - seeing how little you can spend/how much you can save for day-to-day living. I will also do the sealed pot challenge again when it starts again (I assume later this week....)
No Spend Days are also another good mini-challenge: set yourself a target of how many days in a month you think you can go without spending anything at all

Good Morning all. I need to pay a misery charge today
It is my sons 8th birthday today, my daughters 14th on Saturday and I ALWAYS feel depressed around their birthdays- its not even feeling old cos I started young LOL - Im 35 ha ha. I also lost a friend on the eve of my daughters 2nd birthday so every year there is a sad edge to her birthday- 12 years now - RIP.
Work is all going horrible- my numbers are so down so Im earning peanuts and our management can be "challenging"- a friend that does the same job is in a meeting with Big Boss right now so they are really clamping down- I fear she may walk!
Money wise I am disgusted with self. I have put about £250 on my credit card in the last couple of weeks- Christmas, birthdays, work being slow so not really earning. I was over my overdraft limit this morning so transferred money to cover that so hopefully will avoid charges! the good news is I have VERY nearly finished Christmas shopping- with 4 kids its quite a mission. I smashed a pint glass on the bathroom tiles this morning and that sort of set me up for the day mood wise lol. I took my dog for a blowy walk and that cheered me up a bit. My ebay sold but Im not sure how to pay to send it out! I will have to borrow some work money I think. Unfortunately paypal are still holding my money ransom for 28 days but at least I will be not tempted to spend it as it will be christmas and hopefully Ill have aquired lots of lovely new things to keep me happy ha ha.
Satan-tander appear to finmally be releasing my dds to Co-op - I had a letter saying as much but it hasnt happened yet. THat reminds me- I must transfer my childbenefit back to co op......
I was telling my mum about this thread yesterday and how we imagine the others and stop buying things! I did exactly that in Peacocks (high class, me!!) yesterday and put back a jumper, a dress and ignored the hats (I LOVE hats) you must forgive me though as I did buy a skirt in the charity shop- but it was Per Una and £4.50
Thank you Muofo (thats what I call you in my head lol) for sorting the totals- really appreciate your work xxx
Welcome newbies to the Best Thread Ever.
Right im off to do something positive like wrap ebay and sort out my records on my relief group that Im GIVING BACK TODAY - no more Tuesday night workHave nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Morning all
I have just bought my bridemaids dresses for my wedding - bargain £40 each! Hoping i can now shave some money off the wedding budget so i have whats left to help with my debt free-ness! Though i have already spent £700 on my dress - eeeeks! lol. So happy, they had sold out on the website, but a lovely friend of mine managed to track some down, reduced from £130 each too! Happy days
Spoke to council tax, they have said we can have the extra months, which means we should be ok on that front too. Hoping to finish my christmas shopping today as well, then put my food order in at the butchers then we are all set there too.
Looking ok money wise today, compared to yesterday. I have also decide to stop giving my sister my dd's old clothes, im guessing some of it will do quite well on eBay, such as her old boden dresses etc, so going to go through it and see what i can list. Then cut back on what i get her, a girl after 2 boys = lots of over priced, but very pretty dresses, she doesnt really need at 3 years old lol.
Hope you all have good days too xx:j Aug 2011 took the big jump onto the property ladder WoooooooooTs!! :j

helenpie & deeperblue I am intrigued by the frugal living challenge, need to stop buying so much first though or they might just frown at me
idris I hope your day gets better, it's really sad when we lose someone close to us but you have to remember that they wouldn't want you to be upset, they'd want you to be happy and enjoying your daughters birthday *hugs*
louisa that's great news so pleased to hear that
I've had a mad panic this morning, thought I had a copy of my insurance certificate as tax is due tomorrow spent 20 mins looking for it this morning only to find I have everything but aaahhhhh! Phoned my insurance company though and they've emailed a copy "phew", so now need to decide on either 12 months or 6 hmmm... I don't want to be taxing my car in June though as that's when MOT and insurance are due, but then again I'm moving house on Saturday eep!Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Morning guys :hello:
I am having a productive moneymaking/money saving day I have decided. I am on it with PPI and unfair charges claiming, and I need to call the tax office about tax credits too, as they don't have last tax years earnings so we're not getting them for last year yet.
But when we do...WIN! The OH has kindly said I can use these to pay off my rent arrears and then other debts, as we use the current ones for bills and things and he deals with that everything is looking hunky dory on that front :T
Kerri well done on more payments, I've just found ur DFD, I will follow that too. ooh ur bed sounds lovely, bet you can't wait. it will be a nice treat when you have cleared your debts. I hope you win it though, that would be even better.
PedroMatias I feel the same way about this thread, It has really got me into action. I am finally being very proactive about shifting my debt. I am glad it is helping you through a tough time too.
HelenPie and Deeperblue I am going to join the frugal challenge too, I was kind've doing it this year, but more just chatting to the others about moneysaving than being very frugal :shhh: I will do better this time. Also good luck with fleabay and your time challenge HelenPie.
seriousDFW I am the same!!!!! I started uni in 2005 and said yes to every credit card/store card ect that I was offered. How silly I was, I had no idea I would be paying for it now still. I was not educated enough about money to know what it really meant to take out those cards. I have very bad habits from my parents too (sorry m and D I love you both, but its true) No longer though, we're getting rid of the debt and that is what counts :T
mf0u1098 Thanks so much for doing all the updating, and for starting this thread because I know it is a mutaul thing, but you and Kerri have really been looking after us and I feel like on thew 15th november I actually had my LBM because of you guys and this thread :j I did the Great North Run this year lol, this is going to be far more rewarding and that's saying alot, because the GNR was one of the best days of my life, and I don't often say that about running 13miles lol!!
sharronej ooh good idea on the borrowing front. I hope you find a nice dress, I'm sure someone will lend you something lovely to wear.
idristhedragon you are forgiven for buying the skirt :rotfl:Well done on the pe*cocks front, you deserved the nice treat for resisting. It actually makes me resent spending a bit now, wheras before i wouldn't really care, even though i knew I wasn't doing the right thing. Hope the Birthdays go well this week, focus on your positives and happy memories.
louisa_84 ooooooooh well done on the Bridesmaid dress front, that's a bargain. I'm glad you have the council tax sorted now too :jDon't turn a slip up into a give up

Morning all! I have been racking my brains for a time related challenge, and for me it is going to be sleeping. I'm awful for staying up til 2 and then getting up 8.30. Sometimes flexitime can be a bad thing! So for this week I shall be going to bed (with lights and tv off) by midnight, and getting up (out of bed, not snoozing) at 7.30!
One more day til I can pay some off my debt, and my onepoll is at £38.40, so hopefully will get that up to £40 by Christmas. Also ordered £30 Arcadia vouchers from shopandscan, so hopefully can use them for Christmas presents (four sisters so socks, scarves etc). Being very MSE tonight and writing Christmas cards using up oddments from previous years:T.
Currently trying to meal plan, as I've been eating carp for the past week, and feeling very inspired. Cajun turkey salad, meatballs and leek and potato soup are top of the list at the moment (cos I have turkey and meatballs in the freezer and mum gave me some leeks, potatoes, tomatoes and onions from the farm).
Also have my second date tonight, and am well excited:j. He's insisting on paying, but I said I'd only agree if we went somewhere like nando's cos that's a reasonable price.:A If saving money is wrong, I don't want to be right. William Shatner

Helloooooooooooooooooo DF'ers
Oh dear, you lot are following me into every shop  went to co-op yesterday and only bought the curry sauce I went in for as you were all hissing at me 'stay away from the reduced! your just buying it cos its cheap!' Then today I went to waitrose (they are the only supermarket here with my bread) and only bought the bread and DS's cereal that I went in for   no burgers off the counter os they were 10p off, no reduced rolls to go round said burgers  OMG!!!
Also feeling a bit horrible today, had a massive rant at DH this morning as he's become obsessed with his online game again, which is due to the depression, which I know, but he's only working 4 hrs a day at the minute and is sitting up till 1:30am playing and then getting up again at 7am and playing. SO I snappedOh I know why hes doing it, but i've got my own health issues (which cause a very short temper
) and need him to help me help him find a permanant job!
