  • I'd love to join if I may but I wont be able to pay off all my debt I'm afraid as I've added a considerable amount to it recently via a loan from the bad of mum and dad-in-law :o Plus I'll be on Maternity leave come December and OH will be giving up his regular job and going full time self employed as of January  Scary times!

Still, put me down for £10,000 and I'll see what I can do. :D
    Parents - £4000/£0 paid
    OH parents - £9000/£0 paid

    Mortgage - £125,000/£0 overpayments
  • Hi I would love to join - if I can (It will be impossible to clear all debt, but going to clear as much as possible)

We were considering an IVA a few weeks back because our dmp plan with CCCS isnt working out for us, we are still getting interest added and constant phone calls, also CCCS have passed payments on late a couple of times.

We have decided to try and pay these debts without doing an IVA, by doing our own dmp, it wont be easy the debts are huge, we have 21 creditors in total, and including our car hp payment (10,500) we owe a total of £34,939.16:(:(:(

OMG I think I mite cry:(
  • Bailey, welcome and don't cry :( You have taken the biggest and hardest step towards becoming debt free by adding up everything and facing up to the reality so a big fat hug from me! xx Also, I've said to other people even if you know you can't get debt free by next christmas, why not just aim to pay off as much as you possibly can? You never know, you may surprise yourself :) xx

    £387.96 / £7472

hopefully I will be able to reduce the overdraft by that much by being frugal.

    Welcome Newbies :D

No crying allowed! Is that on the penalty list Kerri? Facing the debt is the hard part, only upwards from now on, and each time you reach for that card for a 'want' you'll hear us all in your head telling you off, but you'll also find us here if you want a moan or just someone to *virtually* hold your hand while you open the bank statement :)

Join in even if you dont think you can pay it all by next christmas, any payments you make are money you'll not have to pay them again :) Small steps people, they still cover distance given time.

Baby steps are definitely the way forward, whenever I get overwhelmed I break the task into little bits then each day I decide which bits I'm up to - having a large amount to pay is completely overwhelming and depressing and can (if you're not careful) turn your mood to the negative but if we take it day by day or week by week it all feels much more manageable. I'm the world's worse for putting myself under pressure so having worked out (roughly) what next years income and expenditure will be I'm now going to forget it to the best of my ability. I'll celebrate my daily, weekly or monthly success instead :j

Welcome to all our newbies, it's great to have you on board and I look forward to getting to know you all.

My time challenge will be to eat every three hours instead of ignoring my dietary health needs please

I've just thrown £20 at my Lloyds overdraft so I don't get any over the overdraft fees when they take their £5 + interest, and it reduces my total a little too. Will update proper amount when the statement comes in. I'm really liking trying to make a payment a day =)

  • I've included my two loans to my debt total on my sig. It's made me feel quite sick actually, but, oddly, had brought my DFD forward on the snowball as once the loans finish we'll have extra money to add to the pot for paying cc's that I'd not thought about! So good and bad at the same time. It's a disgustingly large figure though, mostly frittered away on stuff we didn't really need at all.:(
