If you were 'ignoring' my comments, you wouldn't be directing your comment at me and my previous posts. Think about it.
I was ignoring your previous comments after getting bored. The bit where you state sellers should not include packaging costs when working out p&p costs tickled me.

Point out where I stated sellers should not include packaging costs when working out p&p costs..
I think you will find I said P&P stands for postage and packaging and should be included in the P&P charge but since eBay brought in the DSR and buyers expect to be charged the cost of a stamp then it would be wise to include the packaging costs in the item costs.
That's all I am saying on here, you're boring.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
you're boring.
My error, I definitely saw a post on here saying sellers should not be adding packaging costs onto P&P and I could have sworn it was you. For this I apologise. I liked your comeback banter anyway, it's good to read. There are a lot of boring posters on here who are so straight laced.0 -
You can't back track, it's all here in black and white. You were telling the OP to leave the seller a low for a happy transaction based on packaging not being in the P&P charge.
Only when pushed you said it's what "other buyers", supposedly not you, would expect but you would still pushed your perspective because it's 1.51 ad not 1.51 minus packaging but even if it was we can all go to poundland and get everything we need for 20p.
I think this out-of-line and there is a hidden agenda in your posts based upon how you've been rated whilst charging fairly for P&P.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
As I have already stated, if the seller wants to cover packaging costs and trips to the PO then this should be included in the item price not the P&P cost.
P&P stands for Postage and Packing... So that's postage cost (Royal Mail, Courier) and packaging materials. Ebay itself actually states: "You can then add a reasonable amount as compensation for packaging materials, plus a modest handling cost." (http://pages.ebay.co.uk/sell/basics/pandp.html). So you could in fact add a small charge for packing it up.
OP - I do think you are being petty, yes. I believe that sellers are not obliged to combine p&p at all unless a discount is actually offered. If you got the items so cheaply, then why moan at this price? I wouldn't mark their stars down either, but then I am the kind of person who hates leaving negative feedback, unless a seller has really peeved me with !!!! goods and it is well deserved.0 -
Havent read the whole thread but my point of view as both a buyer & occasional seller on ebay is that I don't bid unless I am happy with the overall price. If I think the postage cost is way too much for the item, I wouldn't bid. I certainly wouldn't email a seller after receiving the item, I knew the total price before I committed to buy.
Exactly! If you aren't happy to pay the quoted p&p price, then don't bid! I always factor in the cost of p&p when I am bidding on items, and if they go for more than I want to spend (inc. p&p) then I won't bid further.
I think a lot of companies have excessive postage charges on their goods, but no one moans to them, do they? Even if they did, they wouldn't get anywhere as the price is displayed before you purchase. Same with ebay, but on ebay you get too many buyers abusing the system.0 -

A lot of companies have a flat rate postage, some offer free P&P when you spend a certain amount and even free delivery to local stores, for collection. Nothing really to compain about as if you don't agree with the price then you buy in store (if possible) or not all.
Same as eBay really, if you don't agree with the total price then don't bid. Buyers bid on total price so if you overcharge on postage and they buy multiple items from you then they will expect a discount on combined postage cost. If you agree to combine postage then you lose more money than you would if you offered a reasonable postage cost or even free P&P so its better to keep the P&P costs to a minimum and include packaging costs in the item price. This will stop buyers leaving low ratings for P&P charges and/or asking for a refund on the extra postage paid if they feel they have been overcharged since a lot of buyers expect to be charged the cost of the stamp.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
I can't believe this nasty seller forced you to bid on their item, and then had the cheek to reduce postage by only £1 for you.
Its not right either, that you were not allowed to bid on an item that was priced higher, but the postage cheaper - like normal people are allowed to do.
Scandalous.0 -

This thread has made me laugh, I only had a little moan, I never once said I was going to Mark down stars or feedback!0 -

Did you read my post fully? I said that on ebay, or anywhere, if you don't agree the price on p&p don't bid/buy!
You do realise that p&p stands for postage and packaging though, don't you? :eek:0
